  1. Just recently I became aware of how much anxiety I have about work. I find having so many tasks, labs to draw/check, dealing with families, dealing with doctors, all the meds, charting, pt care and all the paper work that goes along with it overwhelming!! I love my job and the people I work with, but I think it is beginning to effect my physical and emotional well being. I've tried medications, therapy etc and nothing has really helped. It is getting to the point that I need to consider a less stressful nursing job, but do they exist?
  2. I have never had a pt who was not to be moved. I have had pts on C-spine precautions and head injuries that we would minimize activity to avoid an increase in ICP.
  3. what is a tech?
  4. This was my first post ever on this website and I have to admit that I was upset that so many responses were so negative and I felt attacked. After the first few responses, I thought that I would never post on here again...not a very good first impression. I just want to say that we are all professionals and this is a VERY sensitive subject - I thought this would be a safe place to be able to discuss this topic. I have talked with my co-workers and just wanted to expand my knowledge base. I think this website could be a great way for me to reach out to others, share my experiences and learn from others. I just wanted to thank all of you that have taken the time to read my post and provide advice/share their experiences!!!
  5. Sorry for those who I have offended. I have traveled to many countries to experience culture and meet people that are different from me. This is one of my passions in life to! I have volunteered in Liberia, Kenya, Cambodia, Tibet and the list continues.... I am minority group myself. Saying this, I love my job and treat all my patients in an equal manner no matter race, ethnicity, etc. Thanks to those such as Pepper the Cat and Orange Tree for providing positive constructive feedback!
  6. I am a fairly new nurse and many of my co-workers have run into situations where a patient pulls the race card on them. This has not yet happened to me, but I'm sure with time it will. Just wondering how others have handled this type of situation and how patients have reacted. Thanks!
