  1. Hi all, Schools are closed out here today, but that doesn't include Universities. All the Duke clinics are up and running on a normal schedule or a two hour delay at the most. So hopefully notifications won't be delayed by the weather. The waiting is getting harder with each passing day.
  2. Hi all, Is anyone else going a little crazy with the waiting? I applied early so the wait has been a little longer, but somehow the deadline made it all that more intense. So glad this thread was started. Checking the online application doesn't do much right now, but it is nice to have a some company in the wait. I only applied to Duke for a variety of reasons, but for those of you who don't live here, you have picked a great place. The campus is more beautiful than you can imagine and Durham is an awesome place to live. There has been tons of money poured into revitalization over the past five years and as a result there are great restaraunts, beautiful parks, broadway shows and baseball. All with an affordable living cost and still small enough to feel like you are part of a community. Hopefully we will be meeting up soon and you can see some of our great little city.
  3. I have also heard that your references don't have to be complete by the deadline, but I would contact M to make sure. And I agree, the waiting is painful.
  4. Congratulations VandyMeg! Less than two weeks until the deadline, so hopfully less than a month until we find out about interviews.
  5. I think the suspense might do me in. Shadowing just makes me want this more.
  6. Hi all, I read on the thread for the spring 2011 that several of the people who were accepted are finding it very difficult to get it financed. The woman at financial aid suggested getting your credit in the best shape possible as soon as possible, since it is getting harder for everyone to borrow money these days. It would be awful to get in and have to decline the spot because of financing. Just something to think about
  7. Oaktown2 You do send your transcripts directly to SON, but I called and got a little more specific address, just in case. They haven't said they have them, but the haven't said they don't:) Benjamin801- I am sending you good thoughts on the personal statement. That was by far the most difficult part of the application. I can see why they make you do it. You really have to think about why you want to do the program.
  8. oaktown2- I actually live in Durham, so I went over to the school in August and met with admissions and financial aid to see if this was doable. I emailed them from the website and they were super helpful. The admissions person, M has answered numerous questions for me while I was putting together my application. I also went to the info session and it made me more excited about it. The program will actually give you more clinical hours than some other programs out here and you can opt to do some of them in South America or Tanzania among other places. Overall it just feels like the program is very personalized. I think they keep it small for a reason. The first gentleman to speak talked alot about their forcus on leadership and excellence and I believed it. Another note for everyone, I know someone who is waitlisted for the winter session right now and admissions told here that the last two sessions they have been able to offer a spot to EVERYONE on the waitlist.
  9. Someone mentioned in the info session that they used to do early decision, but they don't anymore. However, I have been told that submitting early isn't a bad thing since they have more time to look at your application.
  10. I submitted my application on Saturday! I am hoping I won't obsess too much while I wait.
