German nurse wants to do the Bacherlor of nursing in NZ
it was in Palmerston North, the cost of lving and renting there is pretty good. In my class the only people who didn't get jobs were those who didn't apply and there were about 40 of us.

AHPRA Registration
My registration took 3 weeks and i'm a kiwi. It wasn't all bad news from what i gather from the other grads they didn't do paperwork properly etc. Are you in Aus? I went into the officeit was much quicker. I wouldn't recommend doing the online enquiry form that was replied to after i got my registration

I did my cv in june and applied for jobs in july then interview by phone is aug then found out in oct about job. Its a long process so i'd recommend looking now. Vic

Jobs for new grads in NZ
Hey Zoe I am days away off getting my Nz reg so its all pretty exciting. from what i understand most of new grad positions will be gone and this year there has been a high demand and minimal supply of jobs. I'm sure its not all bad though but your best bet is to go to the DHB websites and see what positions are available (Auckland DHB, Waikato, Wellington - Capital and Coast DHB, Midcentral, Whanganui, Tarawhiti, lakes, southland, cantebury) We only have i believe 15 DHBs (District Health Board) in NZ so not too hard to search hopefully.

New grad in Melbourne
Thank you very much for replying, things happen very quickly on this site! So it sounds like new grads have a lot sweeter deal in Oz as opposed to NZ, sorry to be a pain another question is the $907.6 before tax? I have found a copy of the nurses award 2010 (April 3 2009) online so i think it may be outdated going by your figure. As a new grad here i would be starting on about $45k without penals so i'm glad i've applied in Melb, and its also a very nice place. I have been told by my clinical referee that the grad coordinator will be calling me this week to offer a job so i'm ever hopeful. Your help is appreciated, thanks:)

New grad in Melbourne
Hi Guys i will be a NZRN in Nov and have applied and interviewed for jobs in Melbourne I am confused as to how the nurses award works as i cannot find in the appendix what the new grad RN is classed as. Would it be RN level one pay point 1? also do you progress through the points on a years experience basis? Also i understand that now there is a federal registration as opposed to a VIC one? So much to learn just about the politics of nursing! Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks
