Protective asepsis otherwise known as reverse barrier nursing is the term used to describe the isolation of an immunocompromised patient from an organism prevalent in the area or being carried by other patients. This is to prevent the transmisson to the healthy butimmunocompromised patient. It is an opposite of barrier nursing where the actual carrier is isolated.
