  1. Hi. There are 2 'accelerated' post graduate diplomas in london that Im aware of, one at Kings College, London as posted above (2 years 2 months) and the other at Barts at City University http://www.city.ac.uk/barts (2 years 3 months) BUT your first degree needs to be in a biological or health related subject. Im considering applying to Barts for next September but Im worried about childcare when Im on placements as i believe you have to experience the shift patterns that qualified nurses will work , ie earlies, lates and nights. I hope you get the opportunity to come over, it'll be a great experience for you and your kids!
  2. Thanks for your reply. I read some more about it on the Dept of Health website. It seems that the help with costs is means tested, up to 85% of childcare costs, and looks like for children up to age 15, or 17 with special needs. you have to call 0845 009 2559 to see if you are eligible. I haven't phoned yet.............! Shift working makes childcare complicated, how do nurse mums work it all out?
  3. Hi everyone. Im looking into doing a diploma in adult nursing....... if I've still got time for this September! I saw some news today about a payment towards childcare costs for student nurses with kids under 5. Does anyone know any more about this, like when would it start and who would qualify? Thanks!
