Georgetown Spring 2011 ABSN applicants
The GU interview had 4-5 people in the room (various professors, plus a rep from WHC who also teaches at GU there too). The WHC interview was 1-on-1. The questions were very similar between the two, and very basic - just a review of my background. Yes, they had my full application on hand (plus the essay for the WHC interview). It was very clear that they'd combed through my background pretty well. Questions about any sub-par grades; questions about time off; questions about how you would apply skills from your previous background; questions about the activities you're involved in -- are all fair game, and pretty standard for any job/school interview. Make sure you have a good answer for why you HAVE to be a nurse, why you HAVE to be at G'town, and make sure you can address any obvious weaknesses. For WHC, they want to make sure that you really want to work in an urban hospital setting, not just get a scholarship. They're also looking for a well-rounded pool of students, so the more 'diversity' you can add (gender, age, race, foreign languages, etc) the better. Both interviews were pretty quick - WHC was harder just because it was at the end of the day and everyone was pretty tired. Pick up a business card from your WHC interviewer & make sure to send a thank you. Smile, relax, and try to have fun with it. Good luck!!

I'm in the Spring 2011 cohort (just finishing up our first semester!) and at WHC. I had a separate interview at G'town for the acceptance, and then a full day of information sessions at Georgetown in the morning, followed by a walk-through of WHC, an info session for WHC and short individual interviews at WHC. That day was really long, and I wasn't the only one trying to get my energy levels back up by the end of it for the interview. It sounds like it's just 1/2 day for you - so you won't have the same issue with fatigue! Do dress nicely, but wear comfortable shoes. Good luck!!

Hi there, So I'm guessing you all got the invite today about the receptions and WHC interviews. If they don't conclude the interviews until Oct 30, I'm thinking there's no way they will have a decision until early Nov at best, but surely before Nov. 15 (deposit deadline), right? I've RSVPd for Oct 30. Hopefully will get a chance to meet some of you too!

I've got a BA & MBA. The BA was almost 20 yrs ago, gpa 3.4ish in a completely unrelated field (architecture!). More recently, I've gotten A's in all science & math pre-reqs; nearly all A's on other pre-reqs. I've been volunteering in a hospital for a while, and had some significant (although totally unrelated) sr. management experience.

Shaw913, that sounds promising! I'm sure they wouldn't have bothered asking if they didn't really like your application. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!!

I didn't do the mycollegi video, but I live in the area. So, it was easier for me to come in person than to prepare a video; and I prefer meeting people firsthand if possible. It was a pretty short interview - the questions that they asked were very basic and pretty much expected - why do you want to be a nurse, application of my non-healthcare background to nursing, etc. I'm wishing everyone the best luck as well!

I was there on Monday & I think the options for interviews ran through next week. Admissions folks that I spoke with said to expect decisions in early Oct. Didn't give a fixed date. But the scholarship deadline was Oct 6, so I think it will take longer to hear about that.

I rec'd an interview invite on 8/26. It seems strange that they would ask for you to complete the scholarship form and not be interested in meeting you for admission to the school, itself. You might try calling or emailing into the admissions office and asking about the status of your app. They were pretty responsive when I needed help with NursingCAS. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!!
