  1. i know we have classes on weds/thurs before clinicals. where is the class held because it doesnt say on the schedule? what kind of class is it before clinicals?
  2. I went in for a patient sitting position a few days ago. I have no experience in a health field, and I wanted to get this job so that I can gain experience in direct patient care although i won't be doing anything hands-on. I'm starting nursing school this month and thought it would be a good idea. I did horrible on the interview, stuttered a lot, and went blank for a few seconds too. the lady said she was only a screener and said she would consider me and pass my information onto the nurse where she will do the actual interview. I got a call saying to come in to meet with the nurse for an interview. i am so nervous. i am reserved too so i tend to freeze up easily. can anyone tell me some good tips for interview? like questions/answers they may ask/want?
  3. i am nervous for the first day of class. what happens on the first day? do we have an orientation or we just have regular class? what do we do in lab??
  4. where can i find cheap scrubs??
  5. I live in the northern NJ area. I was wondering where I can find cheap scrubs??
  6. I don't have any experience as a patient sitter/attendant. I heard something that I go for 2 days with a patient sitter to see what I have to do. I think this would be training/shadowing. Do you think hospitals pay for these??
  7. I live in NJ and have an interview as a patient safety attendant. If hired, I'm only going to be working 1 day a week for 8 hours and every other weekend. How much do patient safety attendants earn per hour? Also, if the job says every other weekend, does this mean fri-sun? or sat/sun?
  8. I was looking for a job on hospital career sites because I'm starting nursing school this month, and I thought it would be a good idea to get my foot in the door by working in a hospital so that after I graduate, I can have a better chance of getting a job. I applied for a patient safety attendant/sitter and the job required that I be a high graduate and have 1-2 years of experience. In the application, there was a question that asked how many years of experience I had in that field, and one of the choices was 0-1 years since I had no experience, I chose that answer. I got a call for an interview next week but the job is only for 1-2 days a week. Since the job requirement stated I needed 1-2 years of experience, will this be a big factor when I go in for the interview??
  9. what do we do in lab? do we need the uniforms and/or coats for the labs?
  10. I have an interview as a patient sitter/safety attendant for a hospital and it's only going to be for 1 day a week and every other weekends. I read the duties briefly, but since I have no experience, I was wondering if any nurses or anyone who has knowledge can tell me about it. I'm going to get a day shift meaning 7-3. I'm also starting nursing school this semester so I thought it would help me. also, how much do you think i will get paid per hour if i work in a northern nj hospital as a sitter?

  12. I have my cpr class next week at Wayne 1st squad. So I shouldn't worry too much about the 20question test?
  13. has anyone taken the cpr course at wayne? how is it?
  14. hope everyone had a great christmas! for the evening program, I know we have classes monday/tues and clinicals weds/thurs. does this mean we don't have to go to school on weds and thurs until clinicals start? also,i just wanted to make sure about the uniforms. do we need to wear uniforms at school?
  15. thanks again DaddyO. I looked at the supplies we needed and it says nursing kit, stethoscope, pen light, and bandage scissors. What is included in the nursing kit we ordered? do we need to get the others separately? if so, what would you recommend?
  16. what do you mean by validations? what kind of patients do we get for our first clinicals?
  17. thank you everyone for answering my questions. i appreciate it.
  18. I know this is early, but when is everyone planning to do their clinicals? wed/thurs nights or sat? I was thinking of doing saturday, but I think I'll stick to weds/thurs nights so that I can have the weekend to study and run errands. for the clinicals, do the professors or nurses let the patients know we are students? also, what kind of patients do we get for our first clinicals?
  19. what time do you all get out of work? our classes/clinicals start at 5:30 right? so it means we need to leave work early so we wont hit traffic and be late.
  20. we are given a choice to do saturday clinicals instead of weds and thursday nights? if we choose saturdays, what are the usual times? also, if we choose weds and thurs night, arent the patients usually sleeping? for clinicals, what would our exact day be like? do we get assigned a nurse to go ask what we need to do? do they tell us on the first day what we do and we keep doing that until the end of clinicals? so we take vitals, wash the patients, etc?
  21. do we need uniforms for lab? or just for clinicals
  22. DaddyO, so what does that mean? since we are starting next semester in the spring, we can graduate with a bsn? i'm confused.
  23. I need to get my uniforms but I'm waiting for my next paycheck. How long do you have to wait for the uniforms? Do they give it to you right on the spot? also, what exactly did you get from the store? just the uniforms or other things as well? how much was the total??
  24. when can we become a cna automatically? like after which semester? because im trying to find a job and they are only hiring certified aides.
  25. thanks DaddyO and others for continuously answering my non-stop questions haha
