  1. Does ORMC have sign on bonuses? I was told that was for experienced nurses, not new grads. How do you negotiate these things????
  2. Many hospitals want you to apply online. Should I also send a resume? I like the paper resume.
  3. Thanks--I did include my clinicals, thanks God!! Otherwise I would have absolutely nothing.
  4. Looking for advice on writing a nursing resume. I am graduating in May 2006. I have no medical references or related experience. I have been working full time in the insurance field, going to school and being a wife and mother. Also, how many references do you need to provide? Thanks, J
  5. I too just finished my semester. I am decompressing......I have one more semester and graduate in May. We already bought a house in Orlando--Avalon Park. It is on the east side so I hope the commute is not too bad. Thank you everyone who replied with helpful information. I am still researching the hospitals before I call. I want to have a resume ready. I really want to do L&D, but I have resigned myself that I will be Med/Surging it for a year or two. I am trying to decide if I should take the test in FL or NY. I know it's a national exam so it doesn't matter. But I can't take it until I get my seating pass. How long does that normally take? I don't really want to be struggling with moving and studying. But, I can't wait to get there. How long do people normally wait to take it? Am I too hopeful to think a couple weeks of intense Saunders review and take the test. I am a bit nervous. Coming to the home stretch. Happy Holidays to everybody! Thanks for the info and anything additional would be great. Thanks again--JEN
  6. Need some advice....I will be finishing up my ADN in May and moving to Orlando. We have already purchased a house and are set to move once I finish. How do I get the best deal when being hired? (coming from so far away) I have heard people getting signing bonuses or moving expenses. Can I sign with a hospital prior to taking the NCLEX? Is any state for licensure more prestigious from another. (NY vs FL). Anyone have any experience, it would be greatly appreciated.
  7. Does that work for out of state schools if relocating to Florida in one year?
  8. Thanks for the info. Is one state better than another to get your license in?
  9. Hello all! I am currently in a RN progam here in NY. I will graduate in May 2006. My family and I are relocating to Florida. Is it best to take the boards in NY or FL? Can I take the boards in FL if I graduated in NY? Do I need to work a certain amount of time (ie. 30 days in NY, if I take the boards here, before relocating? Please help! I love Florida--I got my Bachelors there at UCF. Hard to find information on their state website. Thanks in advance for all of your help. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
  10. Thanks for the info. I will look into those and keep trying!
  11. I live upstate. I have two small children and work full time. I want a career change. All the community colleges in my area are 1-2 year waits for the RN program. Who has the time. I have taken all the pre-reqs. Are there any schools that are not wait listed?!
  12. Congrats on Graduating! I think the problem is less and less people are going on for further degrees to teach. I know at my ADN program there is a waiting list because there simply are not enough Nurses with a higher degree to teach. On top of that, the shortage, burnout, and retirement. In my entrance interview, they were practically begging me to go on for a Master's to teach. Congrats again!
