  1. Emma, I'm actually finishing up my A&P III here next week. To tell you the truth, it can be a lot of hard work that you have to invest into the class. However, most of the teachers are pretty good about condensing the information down into what you need to know. As long as you put a decent amount of work into it, you will do fine. However, if you don't study (like quite a few of my classmates who are now further behind because they couldn't pass) you will not do as well as you'd hoped. An A in A&P is not hard to come by if you put a little work in.
  2. I agree and disagree with ban on a few things. (This coming from a student who is 1/4 of a way through one semester..) The teaching staff is great, and really do know what they are talking about. I actually feel like I'm being over-communicated with... every day there is a new email about this, new email about that.. It is expensive, no doubt about it. But from what I am experiencing so far, I am enjoying it.
  3. Yup, I think he chooses her the majority of the time because he knows the other lab group members would easily get the questions correct. Maybe he's picking on us, maybe he doesn't want to let this girl fall behind...
  4. Yeah, thats what i've been trying to do.. guess i'll keep it up, then..
  5. I've tried that. Our professor told me, quite bluntly, that its our group and we're stuck with it, and yes, our lab grade, not including practicals, is based on group work. Prof. seems to not care, despite trying my butt off to get this kid to work... Looks like ill have to work extra hard to keep my A..
  6. Try, try as I have, nothing can cure one of our lab group partners from just plain not studying/not caring. I've made flashcards, concept maps, suggested good websites or videos for reinforcement, and set up mandatory meetings for open lab or review (as the lab group leader). Yet, the prof. always seems to pick her when presenting our lab for the day (and she always seems to mess up). Any previous experience w/ this, or suggestions? Or should I just suck it up and keep trying to reach this kid..
  7. I am currently taking A&P I now, albeit not in a condensed 8 week format. The Shotgun Histology movies on youtube are definitely a great way to learn the different types of tissues. (Scratch that, they are bloody awesome). Also, an assignment for our lab really helped me in differentiating tissue types. Basically, you do a yes/no question that splits up the tissue types based on visual analysis, and do a tree chart based on those answers (my first question was is the tissue a single layer thick?). After both of those, I was able to nail my first lab practical with tissues. Good luck with it and if anyone else has any other good ways, let me know! I'm always down for reinforcement!
  8. I just got accepted for the Fall semester starting in Oct. at the Addison campus.. Definitely excited, but one question though... does anyone have any idea how many guys go through the program? I'm a little bit worried about getting excluded in study groups or "cliques" just b/c i'm a guy trying to work my way through the nursing program..
