I just finished the UMass Boston BSN completion program. It seems that they have had some changes to the program recently. I have heard that they will no longer be taking out of state students. They have had at least two professors resign. One of these professors was a lead professor in the online BSN program. The online student advisor has also changed. I'm not sure about the rationale to limit enrollment for an online program to in-state students only. But I can say that the class sizes were always a little big for my liking. There were usually between 30-40 students in a class. Sometimes more than 40. I found that to be too much. The classes were synchronous meaning that you would all meet via an electronic classroom at a predetermined date and time. I found that helpful as far as being able to interact and ask questions. Overall I'd say that the professors were high caliber and knowledgeable about their subject area. For example my professor in legal was a nurse-attorney. My health assessment professor was an NP. The program does require quite a bit of reading, researching, paper writing, etc. I definitely learned how to write an academic paper in APA style which while it won't help me at work will definitely help in grad school. Hi, I was wondering how you made out with your search for an online NP program. I am also in the process of looking for a good online program and am finding that's it's a little overwhelming as far as the number of schools and who offers what.

Hi, Congrats on your interview! It always helps to know something about the facility you're applying to. Check out their web site - mission statement, nursing philosophy, etc. Also - ask questions. Not the how much vacation time do I get type but questions like: what is the nurse to pt ratio, what model of nursing do you use, is there education available on the unit, etc... Good luck!
