Educate a dinosaur :D
We have ATI testing at the end of each semester which is considered as our final exam. I had to take the TEAS while trying to get into nursing school. It was a joke. The math, english and grammar were so easy and insulting and the science was all geology. I bomed the science as I could not remember different forms of rocks and stuff that I learned in 5th grade. I assumed the science would be anatomy, chemistry ... topics related to nursing, not rocks!

Be careful challenging, they are set up for you to fail. I spent so much money challenging and just barely passed english 1 and speach. english II i failed by a point. the exam was insane. It asked me all these research theories that I have never heard of before. I then had to repeat the class so i did it online and it was a joke. So easy and nothing like the exam.

I did most of my pre-reqs at a community college (originally I wanted to go to cal state fullerton, but when I finished my pre-reqs, they stopped their BSN program for 2 years, and I didnt get into other schools) Doing my pre-reqs somewhere else saved me a ton of money.

I decided to attend the school as I had no other choice. They made me redo some of my pre-reqs (so they can get more money) and it was a joke. I had taken my pre-reqs in community college and they were WAY harder than here. Now im in nursing core and its much much different. Its difinately way harder. Im doing the same classes and have the same books as my friends in other schools, im just doing the classes in half the time. Its a really challenging schedule, but Im glad to see that core is challenging. The school is currently being seen by wasc reps and hopefully will get its accredidation soon. I love my teachers, although totally agree that they school has nothing for the students. there is no school community feeling. And when they tell you clinicals are in O.C, they are not. Mine are in san gabriel, not O.C

Hi Jadedbybs, I got to wcu O.C campus and am sooo frustrated with the school as well. Although I got As on pre-reqs, I didnt get accepted anywhere and as I am older, felt I had no other choice. I cant sit on wait lists. I always tell younger people to stay on wait lists instead of coming to the school. I find WCU so unhelpful. The classes are sooo easy. I did all my pre-reqs at Saddleback community college (yet they made me redo chem, math, english) and they were 30 times harder in community than this school. Its such a joke that they did not transfer them, we all know its for the money. My friends and I have been so worried about clinicals. This was a main question I kept asking before I signed up but now believe I was told anything to get my money. What hospitals are you clinicals at? How many days a week/ hours are they? Thanks for your help!! )

West Coast University BSN Program???
No. Its up to you to find housing etc. Most people, Ive noticed, live pretty close to the school, although some do commute.

Nurses really aren't the smartest people
Whoever says nurses aren't smart should try going to nursing school. I'd like to see how long they last.

Nursing Students- Were Any of You "B" Students- and Still Got Accepted?
I think it depends where you are and how impacted the schools are. I'm in California and it's nearly impossible to get in anywhere.

Hi, Has anyone tested out of English 340? I've tested out of Speech and Eng I, but I found the tests to be ridiculously difficult. I have never gotten anything less than an A in English, but barely passed the challenge exams. Just when I think I have studied everything, I get tested in Latin terms (Speech). If anyone can offer any help on what to study, I would really appreciate it! I have the exam this Thurday

West Coast University Challenge Exam
Hi, I know you posted this over a year ago, but I am currently in the same position. I have tested out of Speech and English 134, but I found both quite difficult. The questions they asked were insane. Ive already taken these classes and got As, but in the challenge exam I just barely passed! Really think they want you to fail them so you have to pay for the semester. Can you tell me what the Eng 340 exam was like? THanks so much!

WCU is my last option as I did not get into any schools I applied to even though I had great grades. Im at the point where my pre-reqs are almost up and Im almost 30 and lost my job so it seems to be WCU or give up. I cant redo my pre-reqs all over. I hope that not everyone has had a terrible experience at the school

Is West Coast University a good choice for me?
Thats exactly what I'm thinking. I talked to few people who are nursing teachers and they told me as long as you have your license you should be fine. Employers want a license, experience, and a great interview and personality. Besides, I know a lot of people who got into the Cal State nursing programs who were not the sharpest knives in the drawer.

Is West Coast University a good choice for me?
I talked with Hoag, Long Beach Memorial and Mission. I asked if it mattered what school you graduate from and Hoag said as long as it is Board accreditted. Its a tough decision, wait for a school thats well known with a great rep, or go to WCU and get it over with.

Is West Coast University a good choice for me?
Its so confusing. I asked WCU the other day if they are getting WASC accredited and they said they are currently in the process but it can take a few years. Im not sure if they were to get accredited by them after you graduated if you would be grandfathered in under that. I rang a few hospitals to ask if they hire WCU grads but most seemed to have never heard of the school which was upsetting

Is West Coast University a good choice for me?
I've been hoping to get feedback from grads or current students about WCU, but havent had any either. The staff annoys me in that most questions I have are answered with "i dont know". They are also insanely pushy! I did call Cal State Long Beach and they told me that although WCU is accredited by the CCNE and CA RN Board, they are not WASC accredited and therefore, you can not transfer your credits to any Cal States, or most CA schools. So although you may get your BSN and apply for your license, if you should choose down the road to get your masters, you will be unable to do so. I also wonder if employers respect this school or if it will be difficult to get a job with a degree from such an unknown program.

West Coast University BSN Program???
Hi HumorHeals, Can you please tell me some of the hospitals you called? One of my biggest fears is that the school is not well known and it will be difficult getting a job. Im also irritated that no one at the oc campus will tell me where they have their clinicals

I had to take the TEAS for Mount St Marys. I got into the final round and they gave me only a few days notice to take it. I had no idea there would be so much environmental science on it. It was all this stuff about planets and rocks etc from 5th grade that I completely dont remember. They told me the final decision would be made on spring grades, but I got a 4.0 and still didnt get in. Some people I know got into Cal States and had to take the TEAS upon their enrollment. I think they are changing it though where your TEAS grade will be part of you application. Its very frustrating and heart breaking when people with lower grades than you get into school and you dont. The schools kept telling me grades grades grades, but I know a few people with all Bs and Cs who got in above others with all As.

I just took my HESI at WCU Anaheim today and passed. What worries me is how quickly they moved me in to talk to someone and enroll me. The woman was insanely rude and spent most of my time with her answering private emails and never excused herself or anything. Most of the questions that I asked were answered with "I dont know". Im an older student so WCU seems to be my only option. I've applied to the Cal States and Mount St. Marys, but with a 3.76, I did not get into any of them. Is anyone currently enrolled in the BSN program at WCU? What do you think of it? Do local hospitals recognize a degree from there? Im curious to see if your license matters or if your license and degree matter when getting a job. I would hate to get my license and be up for a job with someone from a Cal State, for them to chose the Cal state person.
