  1. Hello...I am slotted to start in the full time program as well this August, so very nervous but excited at the same time:yelclap: !!! I posted this in another section, I am trying to order books but with Nurs 101/111, they require like 8 different books yikes!!! I found a website that I can actually "rent" books from but wasn't sure if some of those books will be required for Nurs 102/112. Can you please advise, would appreciate it, thank you!
  2. so how was it like? details details details please, would really appreciate any inputs, thoughts, guidance, thank you!!!
  3. hi girlswcurls!thanks for responding back to my inquiry, it's great hearing from another "mommy" (please no offense to some of my younger peers ;-) lol.) I'm an "older" student although I hate that word! I'll be turnin 40 in a couple months so I congratulate you for taking this step too! I actually applied over a year ago and honestly, was accepted fairly quickly thanks to my GPA and that i called them alot lol, i was at the point of applying to another program so i needed an answer. But I was only accepted into their part time program initially, but then deferred my acceptance due to the economy. But I think it was almost meant to be that I deferred b/c there is no way my shedule now would accomodate part time scheduling. I have 2 kids and with all their activities, it would have been a complete nightmare. After deferring, I applied to the day program and was accepted which works out much better for my family. I'm slotted to start this fall so am excited but am nervous at the same time. This is a second career for me, already have my BA but have always wanted a career in medicine. And the fact that we live in York, there's isn't much of an opportunity to do what I used to do before. what type of business were you in before anyway?
  4. @tas026 - WOW, thank you so much for the in depth info, you don't know how much I really appreciate it! I think I'm more nervous at the prospect of school lol. All my professors have liked me, they know I try really hard, I'm an older student (turning 40) and for me, money is coming out of my own pocket so I actually go to class unlike when I was in college before in my teens! I'm a A-B student so am praying that I understand everything! it's been over a year since I took anatomy and although I kept my notes, nothing looks familiar lol!!! what year are you in?
  5. Hi Nicole2980,thanx for the input, is theory the lecture part? will I be penalized big time for this :-( , I'm hoping to get in contact with my teacher prior to even starting classes to explain that planned week out. sorry to hear about your theory class, I you don't mid me asking, what happened?
  6. was wondering if there were any students starting this fall, 2012 in the day program just to get together, compare backgrounds before school starts!!!
  7. hey tas026,thanx for the heads up, I'm slotted to start in the fall and am SO NERVOUS! thanks for your reply, really appreciate it. Did you select the times? I noticed on the schedule that there were various times so wasn't sure if the student had the choice of times? and if I may ask, I have a wedding that I need to miss a week for, is this going to be a huge problem? I have all my preque done so I'll only be missing 1 clinical, 2 lectures and 1 clinical. any way I can make up those classes and clinicals. thanks so much!!!
  8. for lancaster general collge, hello, I may be a possible full time student starting in 2012, could you tell me what your schedule looks like? are you able to pick your own times for classes?
  9. congrats Ladies!!! due to the economy, I deferred for a year so will hopefully start fall of 2012! please advise on times/schedules of first year students (I have alot of of undergrad classes done), have 2 kids so would like to see what a typical week would look like, thanks to all and good luck!!!
  10. This is a repost but haven't received any replies back . If you were a student or is currently at Lancaster, I would really appreciate any thoughts, inputs, advice. More specifically, I am applying to their RN nursing program, hopefully I will be accepted to start in the fall - got a 3.4 GPA, is it high enough? What are clinicals like? How is the staff etc. Thank you!!!
  11. WOW!!! This is so disheartening ! I am a student at HACC and it's literally killing me to read this post. thank you for being so honest though, am looking at other programs, can you suggest any locally in York. I was looking at Lancaster General College but it cost 3x as much....what to do, what to do. Look, I'm 38 years old, not getting any younger, have a Bachelors in hand already but wanted to go into medical field all my life. But I don't want to be at a program where it's set up to fail me every step of the way, don't mind working hard but I want the support of the school, teachers who's salary I am paying for out of pocket. PLEASE...if you are other HACC clinical students or past students, would so much appreciate your input/thoughts...
  12. thanks strwbrywne for your input...i really appreciate it. not so great to hear about lancaster since that is where i will be applying to, to the full time program yikes! my concern is that the clinical students who i have been able to get a hold of are bright and they're hard working, so when they tell me how difficult the program is compared to lancaster general, it's something to think about. it's a legitimate concern - lancaster is a private college so of course you get more support, heard hacc is very disorganized...and what if i fail out, then i'm really "screwed". again, i'm not afraid of hard work, i am a serious student but i don't want a program that's set up to antagonize students into failing, you know. is it possible for you to get more input from your friends that have families and what they think. i am seriously at a major crossroads in my life and with my application going in this spring, i want to make the most educated decision for me and my family. thanks and i hope to hear from anyone else on this soon!
  13. Hello, I am new to this site but am so happy to have come across it. I am applying to the clinicals part of the program this Spring and I am so nervous. If accepted, I will be in the full time program out of Lancaster. I have scheduled my life around my studies for the last two years, I have a great family at home with two kids and hubby. But I'm reading some unsettling posts via various websites about the HACC program. I don't want to read too much into any of them but they are hard to ignore. Does anyone know of the the number of students that start in the RN program that actually graduates/finishes the program? I will be starting, cross your fingers Jan/2012: what exactly are clinicals like in the full time program? If you wouldn't mind, supplying schedules just so I know what to expect. Do you have choice of teachers? Is there a difference between the various locations (York, Lancaster, etc) Again, this is out of Lancaster full time. We always take a week vacation with my family, is this even possible? Any or all help would be so much appreciated. I am a hard worker but I don't want a program that is going to be set up in failing me versus challenging me. I would really appreciate any or all specific info. that you may pass along to a very, VERY nervous me
