A&P 2cr Micro 2cr Science in support of Nursing 1 cr - NOT SURE WHAT THIS IS? 33 Nursing Courses - They will award me 3 credit for Health Differences, but I think I must enroll before the new year, I think they are going to stop waving this course for LPN's. Thanks

Excelsior Pass Rates!!!
I have heard those statements as well. I have decided to do EC, so I believe that once you make up in your mind that this is something you can accomplish you shouldn't allow anyone to stand in your way...the choice is yours. I believe in EC and until I am proven wrong I am going to move forward. A lot of times you will find that when other people don't agree with your choices their comments can be dream killers....that is actually what has kept me from pursuing an EC degree. Now so many yrs later I could kick myself because I could have did this a long time ago. I am just getting started myself and have started studying for HS. I am excited and I have met someone personally that graduated and past their CPNE the first time. People can say what they want and I am sure it may not be the best program for everyone, but you will never now unless you take a leap of faith. PS: In regards to the CPNE, the advice that I receieved from a recent Graduate was not to worry about the CPNE right now, just study hard to complete the nursing courses. Then prepare, practice and study for the CPNE just like any other course. There are tons of study resources available when the time comes. Best Wishes

What is the true future of Nursing 2010 and Beyond?
I think nursing is going to be a safe and stable form of employment. The heatlhcare system will not sustain without Nurses.

How to deal with negative comments about Excelsior
I am just getting started with EC, and everyone at work knows that I was previously taking Pre-Nursing courses so when they ask how school is going I will just say "fine" I don't want to share anything until I have my RN License in my hand they will be shocked! Good Luck

Excelsior - Need Advice!
Hi J1, I am new here too. I recently made the descision to attend EC. I have been in and out of school for the last several years, and I am finding that the traditional route is just not working fast enough for me, and working fulltime and physically attending classes 2-3 times a week is also a huge burden on me. With the waiting lists, and inflexible class schedules at traditional colleges. I needed to find an alternative. I posted my questions here, did a lot of research on EC, and I have found that although EC may not work for everyone, I believe it can be done for those commited. There are so many just like us, that took the chance and were successful. Good Luck on your research. JS

On my way!!
Hello Everyone, I have completed my research, have talk to fellow nurses and have posted here. I am convinced that EC maybe the route I need to complete my RN finally. I have several undergrad credits, I applied and will be getting my eval soon. I was still taking courses at the university this semester and took my final today. Hopefully that will be it for me, doing the traditional route. I ordered some used and older editions of the recommended text books out of the EC Health Safety study guide. I think I am following this process pretty well so far, everyone here has been very helpful. I am excited to get started, I am sure the dedication and commitment required will be a challenge, but I need to do this for me, it is a goal that has hung over my head for way too long. I am going to get started in 2 weeks, I will spend the next week creating a study schedule. It can be a bit overwhelming... but I will pull this together some how.

Does Excelsior have a good LPN to RN Program
Thank you for all your input. It was so helpful in trying to learn how the program works. I really think this program will work for me. You guys are so great and very encouraging. This seems like such a great forum for us to support and learn from each other. It is so comforting to have somewhere to go to vent or ask questions for this new journey. I have applied, sent for my transcripts. I will now wait for an evaluation of my previous college credits. I will stay away from any contract type material programs ie. publishing companies. I followed the EC website and I registered (myEC) I was able to print out the health and safety content guide, and the A&P Guide. --What are your recommendations for studying. Is it ok, to purchase used books, maybe older editions? --Once I enroll is that when I can take my first test? --I will need Micro and A&P for sure, I never took it at the college level. Do you think it is ok, to take as an EC exam vs. going to a class. I'd much rather test-out. --Again, a million thanks to all of you. And Congrats to our newest Grads, and those that have finished but, continue to support us along our way......way to go:yeah:You are inspiring. JS

Does Excelsior have a good LPN to RN Program
Hello Everyone, I am new here, a brief history: I an LPN currently working in acute rehab for a VA Hospital, I have been an LPN for 15 yrs. and would love to get my RN. I have primarily worked in the clinical setting. I recently met a EC Graduate at work and she said it was a great program, since then I haven't seen her, and was told that she is now working in ICU at a major hospital. So I didn't get e chance to gather much information about the LPN-to-RN program. But, ever since meeting her I was very curious. I'd love to get involved with a distant learning RN program since I work full-time. I check my state board, and EC is acceptable here. I am so pleased to have found this site. I stumbled upon the site while doing info searches for Excelsior College information. So far I have learned that EC is a distant learning college that can prepare LPN's for a bridge program to RN, among other programs. I see many links in my search that direct me to sites like the College Network and Rue, it looks like they sell study materials to pass the test-out courses. I have sent for information from Excelsior. I was so happy to find this site, maybe someone can answer a few questions for me. I hope I am following this correctly: --As an LPN we can test each required course and get credit? --How do you advance to take your nclex, that part is a little confusing? --Are Rue or College Network good resources to prepare for testing. --If you are in the program, are you happy with the program? --Has anyone finished here? Thanks, JS
