Perhaps if the DEA and lawmakers went through what my father went through, this wouldn't be an issue. My father had pancreatic cancer and spent 10 hours in surgery having a whipple procedure done, as well as the removal of 1/3 of his liver due to tumors. He woke in TREMENDOUS pain, and my brother (a veteran paramedic) was trying to get pain relief for him was told that (dad) couldnt have more pain medication because they didn't want him to become addicted. (This after we were just told he only had a 50% of making it through the night! Politicians have no right or qualifications to practice medicine! Get them out of the treatment of pain, it isn't working! Dad survived the night, and for three more years before cancer returned, but the refusal to treat his pain after surgery haunts me still! Thanks! Kellie
