Puerto Rico CRNA schools
How is the job availabilty there for CRNAs? I don't ever see any posted on the normal job sites even though some of them include PR as a search option. Does anyone know where to look? I would love to learn Spanish and live/work there someday.

Too late to become a CRNA?
Exactly, too late for what?? Just so you know, I graduated with my BSN when I was 32. I started my first year as a SRNA at 42 (turned 43 last month) will graduate at 45 and beome a CRNA!! I'm gonna be 45 anyway, so I might as well be doing what I love, right? You will be living the rest of your life-so live it well -and make plans to ENJOY! good luck!

MAC vs PC for SRNA
I'm 3/4 through my first year as a SRNA and want to buy a Apple IBook. Anybody have any problems using MAC applications to get through school/board reviews?? Thanks for any info.

Anyone else accepted to St. Mary's CRNA Program for 2005?
HI, CONGRATULATIONS FallonRN I have also been accepted to SMU for May 2005. :rotfl: The interview was definately all personal. For iliket 3: I have 6 years experience in NICU and 4 years CVPICU and only applied to SMU- after a little research about CRNA programs I narrowed my focus towards a school which I felt would accept me. Many schools are not open to pediatric experience. SMU wasn't concerned and I highlighted the large, regional cardiovascular PICU that I work in and all the hemodynamic monitoring I do. I did have a 3.72 GPA for my BSN and did very well with the sciences. I also have my certification in neonatal nursing. I was in contact with a previous graduate of their program and have a lot of solid reasons why I want to attend SMU which I feel I was able to articulate well during the interview. Hope this helps. Hope to see some of you there!!!

St. Mary's University School of Anesthesia
Hi everyone, I have also been viewing this site for several months-first post. Thanks to everyone who participates, it's great. I applied to SMU and am checking my mailbox everyday-hoping for an invite to interview:rolleyes: Did you just get a letter in the mail? I am nervous because my experience was 6 years in NICU/IICU and the last 4 in PICU-PCVICU. SMU was very nice and said that my experience qualified but I believe that all you adult ICU RNs have a little better shot. Luckily I had a 3.72 GPA for my BSN. I heard that SMU's interview process is very casual and that the director does phone interviews for out of state candidates. I am here in Seattle (don't want to move anywhere) but am willing to do whatever it takes to go to CRNA school. SMU is my first application...they didn't require the GRE so I was able to just jet an app. in. BRRRR is right, but I have only heard good things about living in the Minneaplois area. GOOD LUCK TO YOU, I HOPE WE ARE CLASSMATES SOMEDAY!!!!
