  1. Thanks to all of those who replied. Actually I have been in touch with the agency on a daily basis, I usually work 7p-7a, any day of the week, In fact I have even offered to work 3-11 and even in nursing homes or whatever is available. I am just very frustated at this point and don't know if I should give it some time or start looking for a staffing job (It seems that even though the difference in pay, at least with staffing, work is almost guaranteed.) In fact after the first agengy was cancelling I signed on with a 2nd (which hasn't helped) and am debating about a 3rd. How many agencies do most of yall work through, how do you manage giving each equal time?
  2. I have been an agency nurse for about 2-3 months now, before I was staff. At first I was working 2-3 days a week, then I was called off for over 2 weeks, then I signed on with a second agency hoping that would help. It has gotten to the point that in the last month I haven't even been able to average 12 hours a week, this is my main source of income and it is really starting to hurt. I work in the San Antonio area, anyone else having this problem. To those who have been agency awhile, does it usually slow down during the summer in general. Will it pick up in the fall, what can I expect? At this point I don't want to have to get a full time staffing job, due to me going back to school (agency makes it easier). I guess I'll just wait and see.
  3. Thanks Mama Nurse! :) But I think anyone can do just about anything if they set their mind to it!:balloons:
  4. Working my way to that point. I am an LVN trying to go back for my RN and eventually wanting to get my MSN. For me I haven't found an easier way! (So far it hasn't been that bad, and it seems to be an easier way if you have to work your way through it). If anyone knows an easier route let me know.
  5. Full time through the entire LVN program. But it didn't catch up with me until I graduated school and boy did I need a vacation after that!:biggringi Now after being an LVN for over a year I am glad I did it that way, (the experience actually helped). Now I want to go back to school and get my RN but am not sure that I can do it all over again!
  6. I am an LVN who has worked only on telemetry units, I love it and can't imagine doing anything else. If you are willing to learn and don't mind stress at times then you will do fine.:) Are you going to get an orientation of some sort on that unit?
  7. I too am an LVN looking for an RN bridge program. I have looked at Rue and some colleges. I am in South Texas and I know there are programs through SAC, ACC and UTHSC. You might look into UT at Tyler, they also have an LVN to BSN program along with an ADN program. Unfortunately that one is too far away for me. Anyone have any suggestions on Online vs Classroom programs?
  8. my friend recieved his bsn through the university of phoenix, it was 100% online and he completed it in just over a year. Not sure how much though.
  9. Nike shox work pretty good. Also Z coils, but I am not sure if they are available everywhere, they are also pretty pricey!
