  1. Anyone have any information on Ancilla college nursing program? I am currently at Ivy Tech and tired of waiting in limbo and the constant changes to the curriculum. I do know I will have to take something called HESI instead of the TEAS. I only need the transition part of the program, so commuting 90 mins to and from the school for a year will be doable. The cost per credit hr is about 4 times as much as ivy tech, but no waiting list. It is not one of those schools for profit. It is a private, catholic, accredited college. I would love to hear from someone who goes to the school on how is the school, instructors, is the school high quality/justify tuition rate, and any information on the nursing program. Also I will have to take intro chemistry 5 credit hrs. any information on this class -my least favorite subject. I was going to take it at ivy tech and was told this would not transfer because it is 3 credit hrs. Thanks
  2. If you read my post, I did not imply nurses should not know math and should just depend on the pharmacist. I was saying in general you not spending your whole day calculating dosages. I also said pharmacology would be more pertinent for nurses. In school, one have to do many things that you simply will not have to do or do that often in the real world of working.
  3. ]In the real world, nurses have to calculate very few dosages. That is the in-house pharmacy job. Sure you should know how to convert micrograms to milligrams etc and the difference between 0.5 and 0.05 etc. I think it makes no sense for ivy tech to require two additional math classes. ( the prereq. for 13x and the 13x) If anything would have made more sense would have been 2 semesters of pharmacology. Something thats pertinent to the field of nursing.
