OMG PASSED! (found out on boards before I found out from Pearson!)
I took the NCLEX yesterday 6/26 in Florida. It took me 5 1/2 hours to complete bc I got 265 questions. Craziness! I tried Pearson trick and got the good pop up. I keep check board of nursing site and it says waiting on score. It's has been more than 24 hours. Can anyone tell me what time their score updated? I don't think I can wait another 24 hours to find out.

I am in the program now and have 4 classes left. The biggest piece of advice I can give you is to not listen to what all of the students have to say about how you should study, how difficult a course or teacher is. It forces you to walk into something new with preconceived notions and does not allow you figure it out yourself. Everyone will study differently and learn differently. It will be up to you to figure out what works for you. In reality, there is no way to know until you go through the first course. I had to change the way I studied a couple of times before I figured it out. I highly suggest taking Italia Folleco's SLS course before entering the program at North Campus. It will help to prepare you for studying and test taking. Trust me this style of test taking is an entirely different concept from your typical test taking. You will feel overwhelmed at first, but once you figure out a study plan it gets easier. I would not suggest working full time. You could work part time a lot of students do. Part time work that is flexible is best so you can add and cut hours as your course load permits. Feel free to ask me questions if you have any. I was in your shoes at one point! I will do my best to answer them when I have a free minute. Congrats! You made it! :w00t:

The nursing process one professor has a website where you can find the booklist and other information. It is possible that the booklist may change, so I would wait until after orientation to buy anything. I bought my books on amazon and it was cheaper than buying them at the book store. I would suggest getting the computerized fundamentals book, as it will make your life much easier when you are studying. Her website is: http://webhome.broward.edu/~gbrickma/ The booklist is located under calendars!

Broward College May 2011
Hey there! Just wanted to say congratulations to those of you who have been accepted to North campus for May! I started the program in January at North! It is a lot of work, but so much fun! It will be pretty overwhelming for you the first couple of weeks of school, but it gets easier as you get used to the work load. If you have any questions feel free to send me a private message and I will try to respond in my spare time (which I don't have much of)! Good luck!

Someone said they didn't want the flare pants with the slits. Then someone else said that our professor said no flare pants and no cargo pockets. They have to be like the ones in the bookstore. I'm not sure so I'm just going to wait until the first day and see what they say about the pants.

Anyone know if we have to have the white lab coat with the nursing patch on it? I went to the bookstore, but all they had was XL.

I am going to wait till the first day and find out what they will accept. I already bought shoes, but not sure if they will accept them or not. I would like to get flare pants, but I have heard they don't like you to get those, so I am going to wait to see what they say.

I had 10 points! I scored 88% the first time I took the HESI and then retook the anatomy part, so my overall score went up. Good luck! :-)

How is school going for all of you? Any suggestions for the upcoming class in January? Hope things are going well!

Try quizlet.com...type Hesi into the search box at the top right. There are some really great flashcards on there that helped me out alot. I don't have any practice tests. I didn't buy the Hesi study guide, but went to the bookstore and looked through it and wrote down as much as I could. The study guide is exactly what is on the test. The only part I would suggest you study elsewhere is the Anatomy and Physiology section. It is not covered very good in the study guide. We had to wait about a month for the decision on whether we were accepted! Hope this helps...let me know if you have any other questions! Good Luck!

I had the titers done already because I worked in a hospital and they required the same things. I'm going to attach everything I have just in case they need it! :-)
-
Broward College North Campus January 2011
I think they just want lab results if you had titers done, and the results from the TB skin test. I had all my immunizations done as a child, so therefore won't have lab results from all of that. You have to attach your proof of immunizations.

I don't know if anyone realized this or not, but if you look at this booklist it shows what books you need for each class...that way you can buy books as you go instead of all at once. The class is located on the left next to the author's name. What a relief not to have to buy all of these books at once! :-) http://webhome.broward.edu/~gbrickma/Calendars/Nursing%20Program%20BOOKLIST%20AY%202010%202011-North.pdf

Sorry you are having a hard time Missy :-( I have had a heck of a time too! It seems like every time I think I am getting something accomplished another road block presents itself! Just keep your head up and stay positive! :-) We made it this far....don't let anything stop you now! I don't know any mechanics as I have only lived here for about 8 months! Hope everything gets better for you!

Hey there! Hope everyone is getting all of the tasks completed! :-) I just wanted to let you know that I just had the TB skin test and tetorifice vaccinations at the Broward Health Department for 35 dollars. I still have to get the Chickenpox titer, which is 30 dollars, but you have to go to Hollywood for that. I have a list of prices for all vaccinations if you want to know the price for something let me know! Also I only had to wait for about an hour. No appointment necessary.

I know I was just looking at them last night! I just wish we didn't have to have so many for our first class! I can't imagine that we will use all 16 books that the say we have to have for Nursing Process. If you want to look at Broward bookstore prices, I found the booklist online and it shows the prices. Its all listed under the course number.

At North we were told that we didn't have to wear uniforms for the first week. They said we had to by the uniform for Broward College, so I'm not sure if you can buy pants somewhere else. You may want to take a look at last semester's forum. I remember some people talking about that in there!
