I took the test this morning, and I am pleased to announce that I passed! I was nervous, but I had studied the skills and reviewed them over and over. I am excited for the next challenges I will face: the HESI A2, and finding a job! People who are going to take this test: Don't panic. I have been out of the CNA class for almost a year, and just now took my test. If you review and keep calm, you will be fine. I also recommend praying if that is something you do. I give thanks and praise to God, with Him, all things are possible.

I am somewhat new to the college experience, and am not sure what the difference is between the AAS and the AS degrees. My concern was that I wanted to get a BSN, and possibly more than that. I didn't want to get an AAS and then find out that it wouldn't allow me to advance. I plan to speak with an advisor at my school to find out my best course of action, given my life and personal goals, etc. I am also hearing from a lot of people that it is very hard to get a job without a BSN. My partner says "Take your time, you want your credits to be transferrable and your education accepted wherever you decide to go."

Thank you to everyone who replied. Can anyone make suggestions on where to apply? I have considered FRCC, but they have an AAS instead of an AS. I really would like to go for the BSN, but in case I need to go to work sooner than that, any suggestions?

Ok, so not too long ago I visited NAU's Denver Campus and toured their nursing program area. I have to say that I was impressed with what I saw in the Simulation Lab and the small classrooms. Is there anyone who has attended this program, and if so, can you give me your take? Did you graduate? Pass NCLEX, find a good job? I am debating on going here as their pre-reqs are minimal and there is no waiting list. I have also considered FRCC and Platt College. I don't know much about FRCC other than their degree is AAS instead of AS, while NAU offers an AS and Platt offers a BSN. My main reason for interest in NAU is no waiting list, but I am scared for the fact that they are a for profit school. Any advice?

I would love to hear about your experience. I have been to the Information Session, and have read some of the things said here in the forum, so I am a little hesitant about this school, so any positive feedback would be great. I may go to another Info session, ( the one I attended was in 2008), but I am not sure about this school because of the cost, and the accreditation. Have you graduated? If so, how did you do on the NCLEX? I do agree that everyone at the school was very nice, all my questions were answered. I decided after visiting that I wanted to take some of my pre-requisites first and look at Platt again later. Another lady I met said she was going to Platt and she really liked it a lot. I read on Platt's website that certain colleges DO accept their credits for those wanting MSN and beyond. I haven't decided how far I want to go in my education, but I would like to have the option of getting a higher degree eventually. It was also stated on the website that Platt graduates were excluded from hire at certain facilities (Department of Defense, VA hospital). I would hate to go through all of nursing school and not be able to get a good job. Sorry if I am rambling. Did you have any pre-reqs done when you started? My plan is to get as many as I can before I apply, so that my workload will be more about the nursing courses. I think I would have a very hard time if I had to juggle all of it at once. Yeah, I have to agree with the "used car salesman" thing. The admissions lady I talked to seemed a bit pushy, but I liked their clinical areas, they were pretty cool. I have not been back though, because it is so far from where I live. Not too sure about that one.:confused:

I am in the same boat here. I am taking pre-reqs at a CC and looking at several schools, but they all have different entrance tests! I am not sure what to do. My GPA is like 3.18 and I am striving to bring that up since I found out it isn't good enough. I was looking at Platt College School of Nursing, but I read here in the forums that they are questionable? Also, very expensive! Should I try to study for the Hesi, the TEAS and the NET?? I am thinking of ordering the TEAS study guide, but I don't know what other schools give this test. I am plugging away over here, getting the pre-reqs done, but I don't know when to start seriously looking to transfer. BTW, I didn't mention that my goal is RN-BSN. So, any help would be great. I've heard you should work closely with an advisor at the school which you plan to transfer, but how can I do that when I don't know which one it is, and when some won't even talk to you until you already have your pre-reqs?
