  1. hi i started the LPN program in sept, i have had a baby, been in a car accident and been hospitalized 2 other times since then, so all my absences have been excused with documentation...now today we have a ton of snow and I am unable to get my daughter to daycare and I am freaking out because I need to stay home...my teachers have been very understanding so far but I am tired of missing class and I dont know whats going to happen, if anybody could offer me any advice or information please post here, thank you sooo much! I am very nervous. I have good grades and this is my first un excused absence. thankyou!
  2. september 8...only have class one day that week cuz of holidays lol, but can't wait to get started :) what about u? when do you start?
  3. it was good, and yes it was also orientation. We filled out a lot of paperwork, got our picture taken for our ID cards, and then one of the instructors (not one we will have) spoke. She spoke about getting organized, taking notes, the summer assignment, how to manage our time and so forth. Overall I was there for about two hours. We also got our books and supplies lists, which is not included in our tuition, so that's an addition $1600 I'll have to shell out. So even though this is going to be REALLLY expensive and I'm pretty much broke considering only my fiance is working, because I am nearing my due date ( I am 8 months preggo)...I'm still very excited about the journey that lies ahead :)
  4. for anyone still looking for info on the tabe test..it doesnt actually decide whether or not you get into the program. They will give it to you at the end of the CNA program again to see what kind of improvement you made. I actually did not have to take it again because I did so well the first time. If you get the highest grade which is like a 12.0 on each part or something like that you will not have to re take it. But it is just basic math and english. The program itself is wonderful, and if you are planning to continue your education in healthcare I think it is a great stepping stone. I have just been accepted to the LPN program for the fall and eventually plan to bridge to the RN. The CNA program provides a ton of great basic medical information, and introduces you to a clincal setting which is great when you enter the LPN or RN program because you obviously will be more prepared and more familiar with patient care. It makes it much less nerve-wracking too. Good luck.
  5. well on the letter is says "registration" is tomorrow 7/28/10, not sure if that's the same thing as orientation. It says it could take up to two hours..It seems like it may be early for orientation so, this may be different, not so sure. If anyone knows, please post just so I know what to expect tomorrow. I know all boces are different too so..
  6. hey everyone, so i called boces today..like as soon as they opened lol..spoke with dina again. I have until august 13th to pay, thank goddd, i was really nervous all weekend :) thanks to everyone who wrote me back though.
  7. hey gigi, i know you are attending a diff. boces but did they give you a deadline to pay your deposit? If you read my previous posts I got my letter on the day they wanted the money, so I haven't paid them yet..really nervous about loosing my spot..I left a message, but this whole weekend I'm going nuts because I can't talk to anyone there or do anything until monday. Sorry for continuing to post about this I just really need to settle my nerves...
  8. for those of you going to western suffolk boces, just curious about the first payment...I got my letter today 7.23, I had to go pick it up because it wasn't getting to me by mail for some reason...as I am reading it when I got back home I realized they wanted $2000 TODAY! or it said I will loose my spot...I have financial aid and pell grants in place, not sure what to do, if any one has any advice please post. I contacted financial aid as soon as I read the letter but they were closed for the weekend, I left a message. Will def. call back monday morning to find out what to do, but in the mean time, please write back. Thanks guys :)
  9. yes, i have already left a voicemail with financial aid but i will call monday to speak with a person. thanks :)
  10. no western suffolk boces. not really sure what to do, i will call financial aid again on monday though because i have my loans and pell grant in place.
  11. its dated for the 8th, but they sent it out twice and i never got it so i spoke with Dina in the office today and she said I could wait until registration to pick it up, I told her I'd rather come get it so I have it with me when I come..had I not went today I would have never even known, I wasn't given any details over the phone. Just a lot of confusion really, and I hope that I don't have to pay the consequences for it . Thanks for sending me the assignment too, that was like really fast :) appreciate it.
  12. and if anyone has the homework assignment for the first day of class i'd like to start it early, so if someone can reply i can give you my email. thanks again :)
  13. did you pay today? because i picked up the letter at 2pm right as they were closing...like i said in my other post i left a message with financial aid letting them know my situation..still really nervous about loosing my spot not sure what i should do..thanks for responding though :)
  14. So i got my acceptance letter today, I never got it in the mail, they actually called and asked if I was still interested in the program, I was like "ofcourse!", and so I went to go pick up the letter in person today (7/23/10) and as I'm reading it after I got home it says that I must make a payment of $2000 by today or I will loose my seat..I mean how can they expect me to make a payment the day I was told about it? Also I have applied for financial aid and am eligible for $5500 from a pell grant. I am wondering if when the school looks up my fafsa/financial info they will use that money towards my payment...I am really freaking out about loosing my spot because I have quit my job to make a full commitment to this program. I called and left a message with financial aid, they were closed, hoping someone will have mercy on me, or call me back. It's going to be a long weekend...any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all :)
  15. Hi, my name is ally. So I have been accepted to the nursing program at BOCES (western suffolk) for part time days. I had to go pick up my later because they sent it twice and I never received it. So as I am reading over it I see that it says I must pay $2000 by TODAY, the day I got my letter or I will loose my spot. Obviously this is not possible, and I have applied for funding as well. I am wondering if anyone else was not able to make their payment by the date requested and if so, what happens? I quit my job for this and have been applying for two years, I would be devastated to loose my spot. Any responses would be GREATLY appreciated. I also called after I left and all the offices were closed for the weekend, I left a message making financial aid aware of my situation. Thanks again :)
