  1. Wow, that long to get a contract. I did not think that it would take that long.
  2. Howdy I know exactly what you are going through. I gratuated nursing school 5 years ago and got my first job in a ltc facility. It can be rough. I got a babtism by fire. I had 3... 3 days of orientation and off I was. I had 22 - 25 patients. So here is some advice from a nurse who was in Ltc for 3 years.... one time managment is something you need to master asap. have a plan of attack... for example.... report, then quick rounds ( make sure the patients are alive and safe ) map out your meds that you need to do... map out your assesments and treatments.. start everything early, meds can be given 1 hour before and after there sceduled time, meds due at 10 start at 9. do whatever nurses notes you need to do, have boxes to check thigs off as they are done so you don't end up doing things twice. Time Managment, patience, and a good sense of humor will help you on you way... good luck
  3. Well I do hope that we do not loose our cna's. Though the non-nurses joined there own union, cna, environmental, and lab etc. so hopefully life will get better for us all. I now that there are to be 4r hospitals that are part of hca that will bargin together. wish us luck :monkeydance:
  4. My clinical educator mentioned that class in late july, however i just got back from vacation and did not feel i would have enough time to truly study. I am not sure when I will be taking the class, only that my educator will give me enough time to register and study this time. Good luck with your class and test, i have no doubts you will do fine
  5. Hello I work at a hospital where we just got the nnoc union passes through finally! I work on a med/surg/tele floor where they have expected us to take on 7 patients some of them of drips, trached, and having active cardiac problems. There have been times where there have been 45 patients and only 4 nurses, doing the math it can only be concluded that this was not a great hospital to work at before the union. We are currently working on our contract. Anyone out there with any knowledge about what we can expect in out union process?:monkeydance:
  6. Try the shape up's by sketchers. They are wonderfule and they will make clinicals and future life as a nurse on your feet good.
  7. Thank you so much, I will look that book up.
  8. Hello I am currently working on a med/surg/tele unit. I am looking to break into the ER. I already have ACLS and am pretty good at interperting rhythms. I am planning on taking the TNCC, but would like to begin to prepare for the course by getting some books to begin studying myself. Does anybody out there have any recomendations? Thank's in advance to anyone who might respond.
