  1. I've been out of work for 1 year (as of May 20, 2013) and having a bit of a time getting employment. Facilities want a nurse with at least 1 year recent experience. Now I've been in Healthcare for 30 years and absolutely CAN NOT crawl under beds, manage 'violent' patients, work nights, etc. My specialty is Ambulatory/Outpatient Pre/PACU since 2000. As nurses mature, what type of positions can we realistically hold? Positions that we are actually interested in instead of 'whatever comes along"?
  2. I totally appreciate the comment by smartnurse1982. Most of the time I am 'embarrassed' that I didn't graduate from a more recognizeable and respected college or university. I graduated from the Univ of Phoenix for my RN-BSN & BSN to MBA (in healthcare management). Expensive? Absolutely!!! Learning experience was fair to Midland - Independent study, acccomplished comfortability speaking in large or small groups of people, became a quick and healthy reports and presentations writer... many other items...but professionals don't recognize or approve the UOPHx - so the educational opportunity seems worthless.
