  1. The job is still posted no call yet I'm going crazy
  2. Lol I know it hasn't been that long I'm just on edge. The job sounds like an amazing opportunity so I'm anxious
  3. I have 2 years REHAB experience and on Thursday I interviewed at a hospital. I was with the director for an hour ago kept saying she thought I would be a good fit and then I met with the care manager for an hour who seemed to like me. The manager said she'll let HR know right away and I still haven't heard. IS that a bad sign in going crazy
  4. I just called the once. I won't call again. My app status hasn't changed so I guess that's good
  5. Called and HR stated that the manager hadnt given any decisions yet. HOPE THEY weren't just lying to me
  6. I had an interview last Thursday and was told I would receive a call late this week. Today is Friday and im getting worried. IS that a bad sign
  7. Apply to nursing homes. I hear so many RNs say they can't get a job. I'm a new RN (December 2012) and I recently got a job in a nursing home. The pay is equal if not higher than a acute hospital and its great experience. Would you rather be out if school 2 years with no experience ? Or would you rather work in LTC to start and have RN experience to put on your résumé?
  8. Don't be down! Start studying Kaplan is great and I highly recommend PDA by Lacharity. I graduated in December failed the first time in 120 questions. Also didn't think it was possible because I did so well in nursing school. Well guess what exactly 45 days later I retested and passed in 75 questions in 30 minutes. You have an advantage over first time testers. You have an idea of what to expect! You'll be fine. Plenty of amazing RNs don't pass the first time. It's normal to feel down but realize you are far from a failure. Anyone sitting for the NCLEX deserves to be there!
  9. I'm not sure what the pay Is like in New York. I was quoted 28 an hour for a nursing home I was hired at. I also have the opportunity to pick up overtime.
  10. I graduated this past December 2012 with my ADN in New Jersey. Like you I wanted to move to the Baltimore area. My ADN program is very well respected in the area I live in. I applied to about 100 jobs with one interview in Baltimore (no offer!) I recently got my NJ license and have accepted a job 6 months out of school. Although Baltimore is where I want to be, the job market looks bleak.
  11. I had a job interview Tuesday with a nurse recruiter followed by meeting with the nursing director on the oncology floor. She asked me a lot of questions and seemed pleased by my answers but I also know I ramble at times when nervous. She told me about the job (hours, schedule and orientation). I asked her some questions which she seemed to think were great questions. We toured the unit then she told me I could come in to shadow if I'd like. I emailed her yesterday morning with dates I was available but I haven't heard back. Should I worry?? Does the interview sound promising? The nurse recruiter said I should hear whether I got the job within a week.

  14. So I am new graduate (December) and I have a job interview next Tuesday on an oncology floor. I am very excited about this possible opportunity as oncology has always interested me and was one of my top choices for nursing I want to do. My question is what kind of questions might I expect on an oncology nursing job interview?
  15. I took my NCLEX last Saturday for my second try. I passed in 75 questions in 30 minutes after bombing with 130 questions the first time. I used only kaplan the first time. Second time I used kaplan, saudners, PDA (that book was SO helpful) and Lipincott's Alternate Format Questions book. I didn't feel 100 percent ready the second time, I dont think you ever do, However I did feel different the second time than I did the first. Good luck!!!
  16. I took my NCLEX today and my test stopped at 75. I got 21 SATA, priority, infection control, 2 drag and drop. I finished in 35 minutes which I heard could be why my results are on hold. Does it sound like I passed I'm so nervous??
  17. I'm testing next Saturday. I've gone through the whole saunders book, prioritization, delegation and assignment book. (Scores were in the 60s for most part in the PDA book) and I took all my kaplan q trainers. My scores for Kaplan were mostly 60s.I took notes on all the rationales from Kaplan, been reviewing drugs and lab values. Are my scores good enough?
  18. Ok would they normally have you shadow if they have no interest in hiring you?
  19. Does it look bad if I start applying to other jobs at a hospital I interviewed at a week ago. I've given up hope I got that job. If they wanted me they would have called by now. So can I apply to other floors?
  20. I had a job interview last tuesday at Mercy and was asked to shadow that day. I wasnt told when I'd hear back. Should I call Tuesday? I'm a new grad.
  21. I want to start off by saying I am a December ADN new graduate. I had my first job interview Tuesdas so I am new to the whole process. I interviewed with a Nurse Manager for a full time position at a Baltimore hospital. She asked the basic questions and told me a lot about the unit and why they are better than surrounding hospitals. She said they are magnet hospital but they still hire ADNs. I told her I would be returning for my BSN this spring. She told me they needed night nurses, which is perfectly okay with me. She wrote down that I was willing to work nights. She asked if I took boards and said if hired it would be contigent on that and Id probably start March or April if a position is offered. She told me about orientation. She asked if I interviewed anywhere else. I said no. (not sure if I should have lied, because I'm wondering if I look undesirable now?) I then shadowed a nurse on the floor for 2 hours to see "if it was a right fit for me" I told the NM I loved it and I mailed a handwritten thank you card the following day. I wasnt told when Id hear and didnt ask because i didnt know at the time that would be appropriate. When can I call?
