Hospitals no longer hiring nurses with their ADN?
My HPRS instructor works for Coleman, which is part of Houston Community College and it offers an ADN program. Anyways my instructor said that 99.9 percent of students end up getting hired by the hospital where they are doing their clinicals.

Houston Texas starting pay for new grads
Is AAS the same as an ADN? That's an awsome offer, hope it goes well for you and there no reason why you wouldn't see it in you paycheck since they offered it to you. Good JOB! :) Are you Bilingual? Just wondering... But once again, Good JOB!

Hospitals no longer hiring nurses with their ADN?
@ RN2BDFW Actually you're incorrect.... RN to MS is a program for registered nurses holding their ADN.... you can see for yourself @ twu.edu/nursing. Although there is a program similar to the one you described.... RN to MS is for RNs with their ADN.

Hospitals no longer hiring nurses with their ADN?
I keep reading that places are only hiring nurses with their BSN. Is this true? If it is, where is it that this is going on and do you know by experience or hear, say? I am just now getting started in an ADN program and would be completely bummed to find out that it could mean nothing at the end of my journey. I plan to get into an RN to MS program after working for a year. I live in Houston Texas and plan to stay here. I hope to somehow get a job in TMC as a new grad as I hear that they accept new grads every year. However this issue with the ADN vs BSN is really making me freak. I'd hate to waste my time on a degree if it truly will not be acknowledged. I would really like to get more informed on this topic. Thanks

Houston Texas starting pay for new grads
I've seen some threads regaurding the topic however they're all a bit old. I wanted to hear from actual new grads on what their starting pay is or was as a new grad, their location, what type of degree they have, where they are working (ex. Hosptial, Nursing Home), in what feild and any other info you can give me relating to this topic. Thanks!

advice on choosing an RN program
Hi kelly lyn, I am just now planning on getting my ADN and have been doing quite some research. An ADN is in my opinion best suited for someone who has not taken any prerequisites and wants to get into the feild and then later move up as far as with their education (like me).... You have your bachelors so I am sure that you have completed you prerequisites, now I'm not sure but I would imagine that it would be in your best interest to get your BSN, because If I am right about you having all your prerequisites then you will only have to do the remaining 2+ years to get your BSN. That will be the same amount of time it would take for you to get your ADN. You should definitely do more research and maybe talk to a counselor. I'm almost sure having a bachelors degree in another feild gives you an advatage. (feel free to correct me if I am wrong) Hope this helped, good luck :)
