VA Interviews
I had my interview yesterday and it wasn't bad. The interview was conducted by 2 nurse managers from 2 different units. It was pretty laid back. They asked a lot of questions drawing from previous experiences. For example, "tell me about a time when you faced an ethical dilemma" or "tell me about a time when you did..." etc. There were probably about 15 questions. They had me rate my skills on a scale of 1-5. That's about all I can remember. Good luck on your interview!

VA Interviews
Hello, I know this is last minute and I might not get any responses, but I have an interview tomorrow morning at the VA for a GN position. I have worked at the VA for almost 2 years as a Student Nurse Tech, so I'm pretty sure I will get the job, but I am still nervous about the interview. Does anyone here happen to remember what the interview was like for the VA? What kind of questions they ask or how extensive it is? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

St. clair hospital anyone have advice
I don't know much about how difficult it is to get a job there, but I would assume it is fairly difficult. The FBC itself only has about 10 rooms in the new section, and a few extra rooms for busy nights. Because it is so small, I would imagine that they do not employ too many nurses. If you go here: http://www.healthcaresource.com/stclair/index.cfm?fuseaction=search.jobList&template=dsp_job_list.cfm&iJobCatId=101 it shows the current job openings, to give you an idea of how often they hire there, and what is open. As of now, I am planning on going into neonatal nursing or labor and delivery, leaning towards neonatal nursing. But, I still have four years to decide lol. Good Luck to you! Where do you go to school for nursing?

St. clair hospital anyone have advice
I volunteered there for the past 3 years, and did many trips to the FBC. I also interviewed a nurse who worked in the FBC, and she seemed very pleased with her job. I've also heard many patients' comments when discharging them, and the majority said they were very pleased with the nurses there. I believe all but one were said to be extremely friendly and helpful.

Nurses and tattoos
I already have one on my wrist that I got about a month ago. It is on my left wrist, so I was planning on wearing a watch to cover that one. I was just hesitant to get one on the other wrist since it will be more difficult to hide..(can't exactly wear two watches) I think I might wait until I start college this fall and see what my nursing school's policy is with the tattoos, and also, the policies of the hospitals in the city. Thanks for responding.

Nurses and tattoos
I was planning on getting "Never give up" in chinese characters on my right inner wrist. As I posted before, my left wrist has swirlies holding a heart with a cross in it. I've wanted these chinese characters for a while now, even before i got my first tattoo, but the artist i went to didn't seem to comfortable with chinese characters. Now that I have a good artist that I like, I would like to go back and get the characters on my other wrist. I'm mainly concerned about getting a job..I'm afraid that the hospital i may work for won't allow tattoos to be visible, and it would be somewhat difficult to hide both tattoos on my wrists (the one on my left wrist can be hidden by a watch). Can nurses wear long sleeve shirts? more specifically neonatal nurses? and nursing students?

Nurses and tattoos
Alright, sorry to bring this up again, but I am considering getting a second tattoo on my right wrist, same size and everything...but I can't exactly wear two watches to cover that one up too....any thoughts? should I wait until I actually start nursing school, or do you all think it won't matter too much?

Nurses and tattoos
thank you all very much for such quick responses. My tattoo is not offensive at all, it's a small heart being held by swirlies with a cross in the middle, and like I said, the majority of it can be covered by a watch...So, it sounds like I'll be okay...thank you all so much!

Nurses and tattoos
Hello, I have a question for nurses, nursing students, anyone....What is the story with nurses having tattoos, are they allowed? are there any special rules? I have a small tattoo on my left inner wrist, that can be covered mostly by a watch band. I'm going to begin nursing school next semester, and was just wondering about policies, etc....any help would be appreciated. thanks.
