  1. Just trying to enjoy the last few months of freedom, and working. Which is great because I met some current Accelerated students doing clinicals at my job last Wednesday. Their advice? "Sleep, because I don't even have time to shower." Lol, a little intimidating, but they were all very nice and helpful. One woman gave me her contact information and encouraged me to contact her with any questions or concerns. She told me no one prepared her for how intense the first couple of weeks are as you get adjusted to the program, so prepare to be unprepared I guess!
  2. Yeah, I think the cutoff actually dropped this year, because last year I had 54 points but didn't get accepted. Weird! I wonder how things will change with the new point system. I had similar concerns in making my decision between the two programs, but I think the accelerated program is actually going to be easier for me because of it being partially hybrid. I'll be able to do some of the work at home and won't have to get child care for my 2yo son. I might be singing a different tune once school starts, but I'm so excited to get started! :)
  3. Hey Acceleratedorbust, I was an alternate last year. What it means is you still have a shot at making it in, but it all depends on what the people who got accepted decide to do. It also depends a lot on luck because they randomly assign an order to the alternates, so if they tell you you're the #1 or #2 alternate, the odds are still pretty good. If however, you're #15 of 17 like I was last year, you're probably not making it in. Don't give up though, because I reapplied this year and got in with 55 points. I was SO disappointed that I had to wait another whole year to get started but once I got my acceptance letter, it made it all worth while. Hang in there! If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask! Hope to see you at orientation on Thursday!
  4. Yay! Congrats! This makes me so excited to go home and look at my mail! I had been excitedly looking every day for the longest time with no results, so I just kind of gave up until May 1st. I can't wait to actually have that acceptance letter in my hand! Are you accepted to start in the Fall or Spring, Rnstudent2011? They just randomly assign you, correct? I hope I'm starting in the Fall; I'm so ready to get back to school!
  5. Yeah, its worth it to double check. When I got my letter, they had calculated 83 points but I thought I should have 86. It was just a little technicality so they ended up giving me the 86 points. 84 should probably be enough, but the more confident you can be, the better! I also applied to the accelerated program with 55 points, but that was the cutoff last year, so I'm not feeling too confident about that. I think we should hear back about acceptance mid-April? Its so hard to wait!
  6. I got an e-mail July 6th from ----. She said I could contact her with any questions. Good luck! Hopefully you're at the top on the list.
  7. Congrats, SJayne! I had 54 points and am way down on the alternate list, so pretty much no chance of me starting this fall. Hope it all goes well!
  8. Yup, the alternates are selected randomly. I'm #16 out of 18. Ouch! I guess I'll be applying to the two year program next spring. It just sucks having to wait another year to start. Congrats and good luck to all who were accepted.
  9. I also applied with 54 points and am on the alternate list. Oh well, I guess there's always next year?
