  1. I would save your time with the content videos and just read the chapters. I found that they just read right from the book. I actually compaired the Kaplan book with Saunders to fill some of the gaps. I am still 3 weeks away. I scored 66 on my rediness and in the 50s with QT1 and 2, but from people I talk to who have taken Kaplan and the NCLEX this is the best. and the last few QT tests are more like the NCLEX. Good Luck
  2. Agree. I was getting 80-90 percent on the tests on saunders and then started taking Kaplan and started getting in the 60s. I have heard that Kaplan is the closest thing to the NCLEX as far as questions. The NCLEX is not an exam of recall, its a exam of safety and priority. I would highly suggest kaplan.
  3. This forum is ridiculous, RN vs BSN. I am going into an accelerated program at an community college in Michigan that happens to hold to highest board pass rate in the state of Michigan, and that is competing with MSU and UofM. I also know from holding a bachelors degree in Cardiac Rehab, most of the classes you take to obtain your degree are a joke. I will eventually get my BSN just because I know its something to put on a resume when another position opens with higher pay. I know of bridge programs offered only have a couple nursing courses, but I also know of associate nursing programs that don't require Pathophisiology as a prerequisite. I guess choosing a school and the way you spend your time learning to material and being successful at taking the boards is more important than arguing over RN vs BSN, becuase at the end you all hold the same title RN.
  4. I found out this week that 7 alternates got into the accelerated program, and I was lucky enough to get in as an alternate. I am so excited to start the program, and if anyone else is starting to program congratulations and to the alternates who didnt get in I wish you the best of luck, everyone who is an alternate is more than capable of being successful in this career.
  5. Did they send you a letter saying which alternate you were?
  6. The alternates are placed in random order if a seat comes open. The cutoff for the traditional program was 80 so if you had 54 points like me for the accelerated program you would have 85 for the traditional next admission process which I think will be enough for next year. Good Luck
  7. I am also an alternate, I wounder how many alternates typically get in to the program. I also wounder since the GPA was so high this year if there will be more alternates due to students taking seats in other programs. Just keeping optimistic. I guess I will have to wait and pray.
  8. I got some bad news, I talked to the director today at LCC and the points went up to 55 this year, I dont know how many alternates there are or even if I made it as one. I guess nursing may not be the thing for me. I have a 3.86 GPA and can not get an ADN.
  9. I really dont think it will go up, but that is what I am relying on at this point. Good luck to you as well!!
  10. Hi just curious if anyone out there applied to the accelerated nursing program at Lansing Community college for 2010. I am applying with 54 points and really want need to get in this year.
  11. I know, that really sucked. I wish that I would have have applied to the traditional program, because I would have gotten in. I know that they had a lot of applications for this year, compared to previous years. I dont think that it can stay that high for next year. All of the people that got into the program must have had a 4.0 or previous work experience. I know that I will apply to both programs next year, and hope for the best.
  12. I just saw the posting on sparrows website, it was the first new grad residency posting on the website in a long time so I thought that is was for a couple of new graduate positions. You can look at sparrow.org, if you interested in posting for the position
  13. Anyone that is looking for a job as a new graduate, Sparrow hospital in lansing is hiring new graduates.
  14. Hi I just wanted to see how many people applied to the LCC accelerated nursing program. I applied for this upcoming September class. I am a bit nervous about my application. I have 47 points, and the cut off was 45 the last three years, but you never really know. Good Luck To All
