Move out of state for ICU experience?
That is a dream to stay home and go to CRNA school. Less loans to take out, but it never works out that way. At least you will have 2 options for CRNA schools. One in Utah and one in your hometown. The more options the better to get accepted. It's so competitive out there and I wish you luck!! You will enjoy any decision you will make, just follow your heart and guts, lol!!

Move out of state for ICU experience?
Are there CRNA schools in Utah? If yes and you can see yourself live in Utah, then I would do it. Your goal is to be a CRNA and this is the next step. You never know, the schools over there are not competitive and you working in the hospital will give you an advantage.

National University in Fresno Ca
I would be prepared for any type question. Be prepared when they ask the population you take care for, they may ask your typical work shift, what gtts are typical in your unit. I would look at the threads here about interview questions & practice from there. Good luck to you!!!! Regarding about this program, I only know one person that got accepted & he was the first cohort. I didn't know him personally, he was a traveller in my hospital. I heard he got accepted in this program through the grapevine. Let us know how it is here & share your experience :)

Moving cross-country for CRNA school.
If you can find a place with furniture included, there isn't really much you need to bring. I would then sell all my furniture and have some cash for the move. It seems you

Is CRNA school as difficult as people said?
Hi! I was asking you, but then I saw previous posts and you mentioned the school you got accepted to. Congrats to you! It's been an eye opener for me how hard it is to get to any school and also how easily you can narrow it down if you choose a place that doesn't need a gre and the degree offered is an msn. I saw a couple of schools that has MS in Biology. I prefer an MSN.

Is CRNA school as difficult as people said?
Which CRNA program are you in? I am too a hands on person and remember things by referencing them. I still continue to be like that in my work where I remember certain meds or how to do a procedure because I took care of the patient who had these things done or unknown med I gave. The front loaded program makes sense because learning doesn't really stop. You may have forgotten a certain procedure or vaguely remember it, but once you are introduced to it hands on, you will never forget. I can see myself go home after a clinical day and quickly look up something I had totally forgotten and learn more about it to retain it.

Yes, another question about CRNA pay?
It's the location. You live in the Bay area where the cost of living is higher and you are working 4 twelves to attain that income.

Applying to KPSAN, anyone applying for fall 2013
Hi everyone! No word yet as well. It'll be a nerve racking all this month. I read a post from someone the timeline of the process. You can find it in my thread post history. It was very helpful. There is one that wrote about how the interview went. Idk, it's hard to know what this school wants. I feel all of us have a chance but it's like a long shot. Good luck to everyone!!

Has anyone heard of this program? Fairly affordable, but a new program. Another Q, does it matter if it's a new program? Also, is it risky?

Cardiac gtts???
I agree with you about levophed as an alpha agonist (constricts blood vessels peripherally), but the beta 1 agonist is a cardiac stimulation effect, such as increasing contractility, an inotropic effect. Explain to me how does levophed dilate coronary arteries? In dilating coronary arteries, I am thinking of nitrates??

University of Wyoming RN to BSN Online
How strange, I just got an email for this thread. I don't even remember asking about UOW in this thread. Anywhoo, I did graduate from UOW in May and the program is doable. Yes, they did cut the clinical portion out where you had to find a public health facility or home health care agency. That cuts out the stress in 1/2. That was my problem, it was very hard to find a preceptor. The good thing about the school is it's graded and you will not have problems in applying for an advanced practice degree. Some schools are pass or fails with no grade, but this school gives you a grade. I didn't walk, which I was dissapointed about. I couldn't secure regalia and I was not going to fly to Wyoming and not able to walk. The school is good too since they are part of Sigma Tau nursing honor society. I was invited to be a member and it looks really good on your record if you are applying a graduate program. The good thing about the program is it's affordable and you will have a degree at a university level.

Applying to KPSAN, anyone applying for fall 2013
Hi! I am in the initial stages of the application process. Yes, I finished my online bsn program this May and I quickly inquired about the program through the internet. I watched the video, sent my transcript and resume. I went to the information session and looked like a good candidate. I just need t shadow a CRNA (which has been difficult in my end). I may have to shadow an anesthesiologist in my hospital. When I inquired, the lady asked me who I wanted to shadow and I said I didn't know anyone. I am taking PALS. Also getting the 3 reccomendations, which I have to start sending out, but I have been busy stressing about the shadowing a CRNA. I would not waste my time in an MSN program, I mean, why bother with that when you want to be a CRNA? Just get good grades in your BSN program, that should be fine. Also take a o chem and biochemistry for other schools that require it and study for your gre. I am planning to take the chemistry class this fall and take my gre this summer. One thing, keep your options open to other schools. This school is very competitive and they are selective. I may not be their fit, so I am keeping my options open.
