Which of the following court documents would be relevant when submitting to the BON?
You want to go in person to the courthouse get whichever document has the most information, showing dates, proceedings, if and when traffic school was completed, when fines were paid, when case was closed completely, etc. Don't forget to check and make sure they certify it before you leave the counter. As far as the police report, some cities only keep police reports for actual arrests not traffic citations. If you have a copy of the citation send it in, then request a certified letter from the police department (usually have to go in person) on their letterhead stating they have searched their records and cannot find any record of said citation or case number. If they say they don't do that or don't know what you are talking about, be polite but persistent. You may have to go home and find the phone number for the records or archive department for the police station and ask them who, where, and what to say and ask for when you try again at the police station. If you are lucky, some counties you can request copies online, but not most. One last note, some counties will not release police reports to the party involved, you will have to give them a copy of the form from the BON stating what is needed and where to send it and they will mail it directly to BON. Hope this helps somewhat.

Moving to California with 2008 assault
Click on the link below and scroll down to page 32-35 for more information. In California they do everything on a case by case basis and will not give anyone an absolute answer until they make their final decision based on everything you submit with your application. I am not sure if this is the latest info but the basic guidelines are the same, it is hard to find certain info on the website. The rest of this document explains all the different possibilities of losing your license, probation, rehab, suspension, etc. They use these same guidelines when making decisions on initial applicants as well, not just those who have done something after they have their license. It might be good to read just to be familiar with how CA BON works. http://www.rn.ca.gov/pdfs/enforcement/discguide.pdf One thing is to make sure you submit as much info as possible, especially regarding attempts of rehabilitation. And yes, dismissal (expungement) will help even though it still shows up on your background check. The BON sees it as your attempt to do whatever you can to be responsible and make it right.

About to graduate and 10+ year misdemeanor haunt
Not sure if BON is exactly the same regarding documentation requirements, but I just had to resubmit additional documents to the BVNPT for my LVN application and they required certified court documents and certified police reports, which neither were available to me since it was so long ago, the courts purged all closed cases after 7 years if you comply with terms and the police department does not keep any record of citations, only arrests. I then still had to provide certified letters from the correct police department and courthouse stating that they had searched their records and were not able to locate any case information involving my DOB, License Number, or case number listed on my RAP sheet. The courthouse was fine with providing documentation, but it took 3 in person visits and 15 phone calls before I was able to speak with someone in the records and archive department who knew what I was requesting and had to tell me exactly what to tell the clerk at the police station to obtain the correct document because they could not do it over the phone. As far as Rehabilitation, if you can contact the place where you did your voluntary inpatient that would be great to get documentation from them. You also want to send in a letter written and signed by you with accurate details of the incident and how your life is now and has been for how ever many years since the incident. You can also submit character reference letters with your application whether it be previous employers, sponsors, or professors. I know I am rambling on now, sorry. Just trying to help because my search for documents and what to submit was a long drawn out process and I wish someone would have given me some details. I paid an extra $20 or so to get a my own copy of my livescan DOJ background which helped me know which case numbers and dates to look for when going to the court house. Good Luck!

CA BVNPT Enforcement delays, how long was your wait?
Thanks for the input, I appreciate it. I wish I was a little closer to their office, but I have been checking any which way I can think of. I had left several voicemails without any response it just seems like its taking forever. We graduated in Aug 2012, received our Authorization to Test right before Christmas, and I tested on Jan 14th, so its going on six months now. I am trying to be patient since it is out of my control, I understand this additional delay with the background check is due to mistakes that I made when I was younger, but you think they could begin the background investigations when the applications are submitted? I came across and was reading some of the previous Board Meeting minutes and quarterly Executive Officer's reports that are posted on the BVNPT site for public viewing, I was amazed when I found the Enforcement Analyst assigned to my case under the section listing people who no longer work there, and she hasn't worked there since Nov. 2012. I just received my pass letter a couple weeks ago and they are still putting her name on things when she's been gone for 3 months. So I sent an email inquiring who is actually reviewing my case, if she is in fact no longer working in the department. I could not believe it, someone answered my email and in the same day! I am very thankful to the this employee who gave me updated info on my application process, but I am still very nervous. Even though I passed the NCLEX-PN, I do not know if the BVNPT will grant me my license. I guess I continue to wait and work on my prerequisites for the LVN-RN Bridge program, hopefully I find out before applications are due for the next semester. Anyway, thanks for sharing and thanks for reading. Much appreciated!

CA BVNPT Enforcement delays, how long was your wait?
I took my NCLEX-PN exam on 1/14/2013 and received my letter stating I passed the NCLEX-PN on 2/13/2013, "but the processing of my license application will be delayed until the BVNPT Enforcement Division has completed its review and evaluation". Would anyone be willing to share how long this process took if you recently experienced the same situation? I submitted all my documents twice, first with my application and a second time on 1/23/2013 because I had received a letter the day before I took my test that BVNPT needed additional information. Thanks, look forward to hearing from anyone else experiencing enforcement delays.

Is West Coast University a good choice for me?
I am also looking for feedback on WCU. Are there any graduates out there who know if you can continue on for your Masters with your WCU education?
