Wow. This thread is scary. Anybody know of places in North Carolina hiring new grads? I know it seems overkill but if I'm going to leave my kids daily for the next 2 years, I want to make DARN sure there is a job once I get done!! I can't leave NC due to a custody arrangement, but I can go anywhere in the state.

I'm in the same boat and sending you big hugs. When I told my parents a few weeks back that I was planning to apply for nursing school starting in Sept, my dad looked right at me and said, so what will you do with this degree? Nothing? Sigh. I told him anytime he wanted to raise my four children, deal with my husband (who has a mental illness and is on disability) or clean my house he could. I sorta get why they're mad because right now I run their business for them but I need to do something for me, too.

I just wanted to say thanks for starting this thread and all the replies! I have been dx with fibro for about 7 years now, but take no daily medications for it. I thankfully don't have TOO much fatigue, and volunteer for my parents business in 12 hr shifts three days a week. I KNOW I can do this but it's nice to hear others who are doing it every day say so.

you hoped it would be when you decided to become a nurse? I'm looking at all the school I will need, which doesn't phase me -- I love to learn. I'm trying to prepare myself for the realities of balancing a huge study load for all this school and my home life, which includes 4 children and a major set of bills that will EEEKKK by while I'm in school, and the thoughts of never seeing my husband again, and wondering, just from other new nurses perspectives? Do you love it like you thought you would? Do you wish you hadn't done this? Could you find a job to start paying back your bills? I have wanted to be a nurse for 11 years, but expected to wait until my baby was in school (she's 2). That's not going to happen so I'm trying to figure out how to fufill my dream and would love your experiences, good and bad.
