I was averaging about 75% on my practice tests. I did not bother opening any books anymore. I just keep reading the rationale of each right answer when I review the questions. I picked up a lot that way. I took my test Feb 3 and it stopped at 75 questions. I checked last Monday and I passed!

She's one of the nicest instructors. Just do your part and you should be ok. People tent to fail 108 because they put their guard down after surviving 104.

Same deal but she uses her lectures so it helps but still read the book. If you attend her tutorial she pass around illustrations. She was the one I think that recommended the memory notebook.

Invest in a study guide called "memory notebook of nursing" by claborn. Mr O uses these illustrations a lot. He tend not to use his lecture for his tests so I relied on the the book and the memory notebook illustrations to prepare for the tests.

I'm sorry but I don't remember if it was accumulated or just based on the last lecture. I'm pretty sure they will tell you. BTW, I took the management finals today and now it's finally OVER!!!!!! I already passed the HESI so I'm just waiting for the go signal to schedule for the NCLEX!

Study for your finals. It's the same with hesi.

NCLEX questions won't hurt. You can also invest in evolve reach Comprehensive review for the NCLEX-RN examination book. It helped me a lot. And once you're done with school then you can use it for your review:)

You need to attend an open house so that you can submit your choices of clinical sites. They'll have a draw and hopefully you get to pick your first choice. I have an advise though...try not to pick Lutheran. They had an incident there with a student at one time (not Oakton) and now as a policy, they're not letting students give meds, hang IV's or any injections. Your lecture instructor(s) will be assigned to you. No picking here.

I have to take both Microbio and A&P II last summer so that I don't have to take them together with my Nursing subjects for the next semesters. I work full time so i have to take microbio in the morning then go to work then a&p at night. That's a 14 hour day, 4 days a week for 8 weeks. By the 8th week, I finished 2 bottles of TUMS since beginning of class. I managed to get an A in Microbio but just barely a B in A&P. Oh by the way, I have a family too... What I'm trying to say here is you can do it. It just depends on how motivated you are.

Your instructor might be right in terms of K+ being the most abundant cation in the cells, you might call it "storage," but it does'nt just stay there as a reserve, it works 24 hours a day trying to keep its balance with sodium. So it is not like the body is keeping it is a reserve like it keeps fat for later use. You may have to clarify with your instructor what he/she really meant by "storage."

At my school, after you have finished your first year of nursing, you can take an LPN class (5 credit-hour, offered during the summer), once you pass that, then you can take the LPN board exam.

Sometimes obesity is not a lifestyle choice but a medical condition. Some people just can't metabolize those french fries better than others.

Don't rule out study groups completely. It might not work for some students but it does help with some. If somebody has a wrong idea, they are normally corrected by the group. Attending a study group is also a way to assess yourself on what you know about the subject matter you were studying for. They also might have an idea that you have missed. One thing though.... you may have to choose which study group you're going to participate in. You don't want to be the only person that has done your share of reading and the rest just benefit out of you.

You're preparing for it by putting what you have learned into application. The questions are mostly application type. You're gonna use your critical thinking skills to answer each question. Some questions are scored higher than the others. Just review for your finals. The knowledge you'll learn from your review will be used for the HESI. If you do good Mr. R. or Mr. O will give you extra points on your final test grades.

are you referring to my advise to somebody who who was just trying to be ahead? can you read my posts again and please can you point out exactly where i was offering these "test bank" questions. if you were referring to those chapter readings, those were provided by our teacher to us even before we started our class so we can do our reading assignments in advance so we can come prepared once classes started. :)

Small world indeed. @careteam 70, which Co. were you, I was with Wpns Co. then was transferred to H&S due to my computer skills. I joined you guys just right after desert storm. (We were guarding K-Bay against any Iraqi amphibious invasion then. We were successful. The Iraqis failed to set foot on K-Bay. Hehe.) We went to Oki and spent about 3 months in Subic. Whew, memories....

It was on Mon, Tues, and Wed the week before classes. I also asked somebody who started for fall 2010 and they also had it on Mon-Wed, the week before classes.

I'll tell you what I had experienced so far. NUR 103 your 1st class. It's about 6 weeks long. You meet everyday 5x a week. About 1.5 hr lecture, 1 hr tutoring, x 2/week. Lab is about 3 hours x 1/week, and clinical is 5hrs x 2/week. NUR 104 is about 10 weeks I think. You'll have 5 quizzes and 1 final exam. Don't take the quizzes lightly, because it is a major chunk of your grade. This is were most people fail. Then you have lab quizzes almost every week. Lab grades don't count toward your final grade. Its pass/fail. Then you'll have your skills assessments, done almost every week too. It's pass/fail also. Your book readings will be overwhelming............... if you read the whole chapter..........., just read the topics pertaining to your lecture. It might be too intimidating at first but after your first month, everything will become clearer. Be organized, always keep your ducks in a row and never be behind with your paperwork (yes, a lot of papers). Invest on a calendar where you can write notes. Good luck!
