  1. Thank you for sharing this! :)
  2. Hi to everyone and thank you in advance for your valuable advices and ideas I know this has been discussed previously but not enough detail on the type of program enrolled in VS job and I badly need advices... This august I will be starting a full time BSN program that is "lock-step" I believe this means we cannot take more or less credits than what is already set. It's 5 semesters long and the first two start off with 15 credits each, then 13, 16 and last one 13 again. I worked an office job full time for a few years while taking prerequisites, now officially admitted in NS:yeah:, and I don't work anymore because company closed... but I certainly know that could not take 15 credits and work that kind of job -very stressful at times... The students at my school already in the program said not to work if you don't have to but that is unrealistic for me because of food, gas, phone, internet and such so my question to you is... ...for those in a full time program similar to mine what did you do to earn an income and how many hours did you put in a week? I have not been working for the past year either and only have clerical experience. I am lucking around job posts but really need some guidance before I do a real job hunt. Please share all your experiences and thoughts, I am lost in too many worries... Thank you
  3. I got mine at the very begining this month
  4. Hi Jessmb! Congratulations on getting in!! I know I'm super happy :yeah:and I bet you are too! Figures tomorrow is our orientation already I am new to the website and cannot email you or anything but we can keep up with this post and soon enough we'll be able to do that too. PS: you don't have by any chance purpule, orange or pink hair so I can easily see you, do you?
  5. My guess is to spot blood easily... ?
  6. Last semester I took a total of 23 credits because I really wanted to finish all the prerequisites and have the summer off... so I took gen chem I, geography, microbiology with lab, ethics, Spanish II (gen ed), Intercultural Communication and intro to nursing (nursing prereqs). I finished all courses with As BUT all this while having no kid, no job and no hubby either. So it is doable but it all comes down to how motivated you are really. Perhaps how tolerating/ supportive is your husband also... with the little one you will need his help most likely. Hope it helps, Good luck!
  7. At 21 and now at 22 I'm about to start NS in a couple of months. I worked over 3 years a 9-5 without a direction really... Finally decided on nursing after doing much soul searching and am so happy and excited it feels like a total bliss! But I have to admit I was just thinking the other day "maaaaaan... had I just went into this direction straight after HS at 18 I would have been a licensed and fully competent nurse by now". BUT at the same time I would have probably also wondered at some point WHAT IF I would have done something else instead? Now I know better -I need a better purpose than making profits for a company and I just had to learn that through experience and with time. Everyone's motives and experiences will be different but this is how I look at it to stop kicking myself lol Also, my mom, now 44 finished LPN school last year and has been working for several months and she really likes it. We are now contemplating about her LPN-RN transition and maybe even further depending on how it goes -I am so proud of her!! The point is: it doesn't matter. If it feels right to you and for you then it must be. Better sooner than later and better later than never Good luck!!
  8. Hi I can see you posted this a year ago not sure if you still around here... I just got into the Generic BSN track ...you should be in the third semester, how is it going so far? Can you tell me if buying used textbooks will work or will we have to get new ones with all sorts of login access codes? Also I have a feeling you were not asking about how people got into any BSN program but a graduate program is that correct?
  9. Hi there... Just got accepted into the FIU Generic program and will start this Fall, however I have already taken two courses there and am already familiar with the school... Their grading system uses a +/- starting with A between (93-100%) A- (91-92), B+ (89-90) ... C+ (81-82), C (77-80) THIS IS PASSING. Anything below this is considered failing so C- is no good. So if your school only uses A, B, C then a C is taken as a C (77-80) and ur good whereas if your school uses +/- and you received a C- they just transfer it as is. A W is not considered a failing grade just a withdrawal and I also had one but then retook and completed the course. It should not affect you at all especially if its another chem not required by their program (the Health Science Chem... ) You have a good GPA and if you actually complete all the prerequisites with good grades it should bump you even more... but do note that they also have two other courses that have to be completed there before applying to the program. Application deadline for Fall 2010 was May 15,2010 just missed... Hope this helps
