I got in! FNP online option for Spring 2014 - anyone else in that group?

I just had an interview for the part-time, online FNP program. It was pretty straight forward, and the interviewer was very nice. She did say that the FNP program is one of the most competitive and that there are 70-90 spots for over 160 students who are interviewing. Definitely not feeling overly confident! Should hear something the first week of August...

Absolutely be honest about your work history. You have legitimate and compelling reasons. If you can use the old manager who offered to hire you back as a reference that would be good. Plus you can use your trying pregnancy as a factor in your desire to move to a new specialty.

Either wait until you are someplace and you feel comfortable or get one that can easily be covered. Unfortunately you never know how people will view/react and it's better to be safe than sorry.

i am not sure what the laws are like in your area, but where i am at there are very few things that an employer can say when a potential employer calls to check references. for our org it is limited to dates of employment and that's about it. if that is the case in your area she may be able to omit that information, but if the new employer ever finds out that can lead to dismissal as well. if she has questions she should call the hr department of the hospital to find out what information they give out.
