  1. Did you receive a memo? Are they still giving them out? I passed everything except the science portion by 5% so I made the cut off with the memo. I plan on using it for fall 2017. Also has anyone taken the new TEAS yet. I wonder if they will be giving out memos for the test as well. I'm done with everything, literally every single class, turning in my application on February 1 and I'm SUPER nervous they will not accept my memo b/c of that one Science portion. I've been waiting so long for this moment.

  3. I just want to know if there's anyone applying for Fall 2017 with a KAT memo? Also has anyone taken the new TEAS test, if so how is it? Do you think they'll be giving out waivers/memos for this test too?
  4. It's not a waiver so you don't have to take the test. You still must take the test. It's just waiver that if you didn't "pass" with the standard scores. They let you still apply if you meet the new set of scores that they have on the waiver. I don't know if they're still giving the waivers out though, it may be something that's stopped. For example: I passed every category except science, but in my science category I got a 55 which qualifies for the waiver, so I can still apply for 2017 semester.
  5. It's the second week of September now and all applications for spring 2017 should've been turned in. I need to know did anyone apply with a substantial amount of points and a KAT waiver and feels confident about getting in? Also, is there anyone waiting to apply for Fall 2017?
  6. I think that's only for the extended track. If you look at the top of the page is says extended, not regular track. I think they made a mistake, last year it was around 104 then suddenly it's 16. Don't think so...lol
  7. It's confirmed... The CNA class will NOT be needed for 2017. I went to the CNA meeting this morning and they confirmed it's not required. It's going to be the same requirements as previous years. But it might still change for 2018. Fall 2017 her I come!!! Phew! That's sweat off my back. I can sit and enjoy a year of no school before it gets hectic with work, school and babies.
  8. I spoke with someone on Tuesday then on Wednesday of this week and they both confirmed that the CNA class WILL NOT be required anymore. There will be some changes, but that's not one of them anymore probably going to be testing scores I'm guessing. I also got an email from the CNA teacher stating that is not required for 2017 anymore. The website is still under construction, I hope it's fixed by the beginning of this next semester.
  9. So I received an email on Tuesday from the teacher that teaches the CNA class about our orientation on July 27 and on the bottom of the email it noted that the CNA license is no longer a requirement. There will be some changes, but that's not one of them any more. I also called and spoke to two different people on two different occasions and they said the same thing. If you go to the csn nursing website you'll notice that the advisement sheet for Fall 2017 is under construction. It's been like that for about a month now. I hope they hurry before this semester starts so I can know if I have to take any other courses so I can apply to Fall 2017 in March. And I'd rather not take the CNA course if I don't have to. I'm pregnant and would like to sit this semester out. Besides that I have all of my pre-reqs done, teas, counseling etc. Just need to apply. I'll have 38 points for Fall application period.
  10. Has everyone read the new acceptance qualifications for Fall 2017?
  11. I agree. I put off nursing to have a family as well. Could've been done 2 years ago, but everything is the way it's suppose to be. Good luck to the both of us. And extra good luck on your KAT!
  12. I'm going to apply for full time. I have a family, but I think is doable. If I find it to be too hard after the first semester I'm going to see if I can move over to part time. I just want to be a nurse already. I hate to keep telling my family and friends im still in school. I'll be 32 this year. And all my best girlfriend are nurses already. I'm the last one lol
  13. So the people that passed the KAT would be accepted first, then the memos, then the alternates? Is that correct? Yes I have time to take it again. It would be in July. What if I don't pass it again though, then I have to use the waiver, because I definitely wouldn't have time to take it again before the deadline. I'm not sure how many people are applying this semester, but my counselor said for the past 2 years practically everyone got in because there weren't a lot of applications for some reason. There's something like 166 seats including part time seats, and they only had about 180 applicants. I'm probably just going to retake the test and pray for the best.
  14. My counselor told me that we get pushed to the end like an alternate because our applications are incomplete. I think I better call and get a second opinion. Then if there's available seats we get in. That's what made me scared. I can't wait another semester either. If you look at the application it now has a memo about the waiver, so I'm hoping they look at the waivers first. It did say that if we didn't pass the test we don't get to calculate those points into our overall points. I recalculated mine and I actually have 38 without the test. 39 with. I think if you don't pass the second time you're still able to use the waiver. I asked the counselor the same thing and that was his answer.
  15. Thank you!!
  16. Perfect! Thank you... I have 36 points, but didn't pass the Kaplan because I got 55 on science an 80 on all the other subjects. I got a waiver, but nervous about applying or if I should take the test again. I really really really don't want to. It gave me horrible anxiety the first time. I'm applying for spring 2017 and also don't want to take the cna course over the fall. My counselor tried to scare me into retaking the test. I'd rather not and just use my waiver.
  17. Was anyone on the alternative list and get in? Or have a waiver from the Dean for the Kaplan test and still get in?
  18. If you don't want to take the cna course, I suggest making sure you get into the spring 2017 semester. Something came up, so now I have to apply for fall 2017 and I have to take the cna course. I'm bummed because I'm done with all my classes and thought I was going to have a free summer and fall, but oh well I guess continuing to go to school will keep my mind working and ready for fall nursing school.
  19. I had my appointment with the nursing dept counselor and he said the cna program is being added for fall 2017 as well as there's going to be changes to the Kaplan test. They're going to start accepting overall scores, sort of like NSC, instead of individual scores for the four subjects, reading, math, writing and science. I think that's wonderful, because more people have a chance.
  20. I'm applying for spring.
  21. Hi all. I'm applying for spring 2017. Not sure if I'm going for full time or part time. I've been done with all of my prerequisites for almost 2 years now. I was taking classes to get into NSC, after some evaluating I decided to stay at CSN and try to get in here. I know my GPA is great for CSN but mediocre for NSC. So I'm taking the guaranteed route. I just want to be in nursing school already. I've calculated that I have around 36 points before taking the Kaplan test. Has anyone heard of any good study material? I go on April 23, I bought the study guide, but have been reading bad reviews about it. I took the teas and failed the reading portion by 2%. So now I'm taking the Kaplan. Good luck to all, and let's keep on touch during this process.
  22. Hello rasheedahenson, yes I plan to start in May 2015 as well here in Vegas. What career are you changing from? I've been on this path for a few years now. I got married last year and just recently had a beautiful little baby boy 5 months ago. So I had to take a break and adjust to motherhood and being a new wife. Now that I feel like I got it down pact I'm ready to finally finish my dream job. Since I have all of my pre-req's done I'm hoping it will only be a few years. I'm so ready to get this ball rolling. How about you? What made you decide you wanted to make a career change to be a nurse?
  23. Hello all, I recently attended the very bright, shiny and new chamberlain college open house. The new campus is opening up in summerlin, nv. I really really really want to join their new bsn program. They have a class starting in jan 2015 but all transcripts and testing must be done by dec 7. I know I don't have enough time so I'm going to try for the May class. I have all pre-req's done except for the Econ and chemistry. Is there anyone here that will be applying for the brand new school? If so what month? How much will be left out of the 89,000 with all pre-req's done? (So expensive, but worth the 2 year and 2 months for a bsn) I'm so excited to start its been a long time coming and I've been working on my pre-req's since 2010! Glad to be done and one step closer to my dream career. Hopefully I get excepted.
