OP has a great head and good heart to not want to take on a long term relationship while in a crisis over a job that makes him/her miserable. Lets keep it real, folks. I don't answer my door for uninvited guests unless they see me through the window. :) I don't have an answer for you though. I hated every minute of nursing school because it destroyed my soul. But I did get through it, and you will too if you want to. Your real friends will be there in the end. But there is no way that I know of to get outsiders to understand how demanding and horrible the experience is. Hang in there, one day it will be done!

You people make me laugh. We were all told that nurses have so many opportunities outside of bedside. Lets all stop pretending that the OP is an bad person for being honest, shall we? Why are there so many people on this board so ready to jump down a persons throat for lame reasons like being honest about how one feels about bedside nursing. OP-look into school nursing, home health, clinic work...there are other routes that might work for you. And don't let any of the negative people on this board deter you from a different path in nursing. Good luck!

I would take the commute into consideration as well. Two hours round trip adds up and can throw your work/life balance off big time. Throw an accident into the mix and that hour each way can increase substantially. Definitely a tough choice for sure, considering your goal is ER. I wish you luck with your decision and Congrats on two offers!

Yeah, I think you might be on to something there with the "piece of crap" statement. :) I haven't owned a mac in a long time, but I'm rarely happy with any of the pc's I've had...perhaps it's time to venture out again. So did anyone do their reading? I've not! :) I smile now only because I fear there won't be many smiles come Monday. Tiger said he was dreading the start....can I get a witness? I have been working on this for many years(slowly, I'm a mom and a wife so ya know, life got in the way several times) and here I am and I just want another month off before this starts. I'm relieved to know that some of you feel the same way. On the other hand, the sooner we start the sooner we finish and get on with life. Anyway, I look forward to meeting all of you again and getting to know you all soon. What OSHA test????

I got the email too. I was a little bumbed myself, thats the course they told us where we would get our extra practice in the lab right? Jasmine-if you go the nursing website, then click on current students, then first semester, then I think 313 it will have a link to the reading list. I still haven't read......ahhhhhhh I went to get the syllabus for 313 and they didn't have it. Now the book store is closed right? Til the first day? Tiger- its funny you ask because I had written on one of the sheets from orientation tha"badge id seahawk center"...and I had no idea what it meant because I don't remember going over that and i hadn't looked at that paper til yesterday. That must mean that we get it at the seahawk center and that I'm supposed to get a badge id. What five classe do we need to buy a 30 dollar syllabus for? I thought I was f'n done paying for this already. You guys are making me feel better though about the reading, I'm glad no one else is near done.

Well I was about two pages into it last time I picked up a book...finished my fun books for the summer so I'm going to start tonight!!!!(or so i say!)

Yeah, the media mail situation happened with me once too...waiting two months for something to arrive. I started using chegg, but these books are probably something I will keep so I bought them from Amazon this time. The beauty of the large uniforms is we will all look large together! Yippie!

I look larger in mine as well, but I was too happy with the fact that I even have a uniform to wear to give a ****. Is your wife ok with hers? Hey does your watch have a sweeping hand????? I went to target yesterday but I didn't see any(though my search was really swift and inefficient because I was in a hurry). Did you all get your results from the background check??? Mine are complete, and pleasantly clean.

Mine says in process too on the criminal part. My uniforms came though...did you you guys get yours? Tiger, definately gonna try the local target for the watch..does it have an elastic band?

Whmacy-I didn't get an email yet either. No, I haven't gotten shoes yet either:). I keep telling my husband that we owe for this and that, and everyday I remember something else(or am reminded of something else, as in this case...thanks btw). UGH, going to the poor house soon at this rate! Where are you guys getting your shoes???? Tiger, do any of your second semester friends have any recommendations? I'm usually pretty cheap, but I think if anything, the shoes are probably something we don't want to screw up, considering all the standing we'll be doing.

I started reading but have only a few pages into the first chapter. Have you started reading? I'm pretty sure we are good to go with the book we have. I still have all of what you mentioned to do as well plus the insurance. :) I am going to really dive into all of that this week. I took first aid 2 years ago and found my card and it says it's good til next july so I might not redo it til next summer.... save a few bucks, but nothing else is done.

I didn't go to the bookstore on Friday after work because I was too anxious to get home and start the long weekend. I'll go tomorrow for sure though when I get off. I haven't received my uniforms, but they charged my account for them so that must mean they are coming soon. How did you find out your wife's were on the way? Did you get yours? Did you guys get to enroll in that section that said it was full?

For sure she said unit 1 and 2. I don't know what to do about the book because I've already opened it(it came shrink wrapped). I think it will work. Maybe when I get home I'll text the instructor? The spring text book list on the lahc bookstore website gave the 7th edition and the 7th edition isbn.....so I think we are safe. Unfortunately that little list has been replaced with a summer list. If I can I'll stop by the college book store today on my way home from work and let you know which one they have on sale there. :)
