I am currently working in a nursing home and feel that I have met my limit on learning( I work at nite and do t do anything but pass meds) I am dying to get into a hospital So i can learn the most I can!!! I need to get out o nights and out of the nursing home. Not that I have anything against the place I'm at but just want to learn all I can. :) Does anyone know of hospitals in southern nj hiring new grads with ASN? Interperting interview???
I went on an interview yesterday for a Tele step down unit at my local community hospital. i went dressed professionally , hair down but neat (not overly done) not to much make up on. i first interviewed with HR for about 15 min then met with the DON for the floor. She was very nice and made me feel very comfortable!! She did alot of smiling and noding during interview, which i hear is a good thing. She asked alot of questions (1 of which she asked me to recall a situation from where i presently work at a Nursing home which was sad, idk why but i started to break down about 1 of my dear sweet resident who is no longer with us.. she laughed and said maybe she should of asked for a happy story first lol.. ) Then she asked me to do the same,I asked numerous questions to her which she liked! She then took me for a tour of unit, introduced me to the charge nurse (didnt have time to talk to her bc unit was busy) and introduced me to several other nurses on the unit.. my question is did i blow it by getting upset ??? would she show the unit if she had no desire to hire me?? she also said she had more interviews to do and didnt tell me how long it would take to hear back..how long does it take to get a response back about the job? i also sent a thank you to the HR and DON as soon as i got home.. praying i get this job!!!!!

HELP!!! failed my hesi and got kicked out of school need your help
thanks for all the support. sorry i havent written back but kinda been bummed out lately. i have talken to my instructors and director of the program and they tell me to go to the lpn program. i actually went to a lpn school and took a entrance exam and just hated it.. nothing against lpn's but i didnt go through all that schooling to be an lpn. i think my problem is that the classes are so rushed and i try so hard to focus on certain things that i dont have time to focus on everything. i feel that i rush my readings to try to get it all in. also, i've never been a good test taker. so im hoping that excelsior will be better for me since i can take my time with the things that may give me some trouble. thanks again to everyone who posted their support!!! hopefully i will be able to write a posting that i have completed school !!!

HELP!!! failed my hesi and got kicked out of school need your help
hi. I am a nursing student( i unfortuantally was 5 wks from graduating and failed out of class) i am very upset about this and trying to figure out what i can do to finish my rn degree. I have been looking into exselsior rn program and was wondering if there were people out there like me who have worked very hard and was greatly disappointed about their past failure. Is the exselsior program something that is effective in achieving my goal of rn? I have enrolled in a lpn class but am frustrated about going to lpn for 1 yr and then having to be on a waiting list for another yr to get into "college" for finishing my rn( which will take another yr) I really hate to have to take another 3 or so yrs to finish my degree when i have worked so hard for the past 5 yrs to get this. My previous school was just not that caring if you passed or failed. They rushed through class lecture and even left you to finish the studying by yourself b/c they ran out of time to teach the lesson.. how frustrating!! this is what i paid for... Is excelsior helpful with problems or difficulties that you might have? I appreciate any information anyone can give me about this.. thanks!!! stephanie
