  1. Eek this waiting game is driving me crazy too, lol. Crossing my fingers for you!
  2. Hi there I just sent you a PM, look around your account and see if you find it :)
  3. Just stopping by to congratulate those who were accepted and wishing the few of you on the waitlist much luck :) Proud of you all! It feels like yesterday that I was in your shoes :) I started in the summer last year and have had tons of fun :) If I can help any of you in any way, let me know!
  4. Yes it was! I still get nervous occasionally but that first quarter was rough :-o I think it was a combination of factors, including my lack of experience and the environment I was in. Your CNA experience will help, I'm sure :)
  5. No problem! Sending good vibes your way. Sometimes this whole process seems to be hit or miss, people that I thought were very qualified didn't get in, and people with perhaps not as many qualifications did get in. There's always a particular "thing" that they are looking for in your application, and that "thing" is a complete mystery for us and we cannot predict what will happen. Anyway, as far as me, I'm liking the program so far. I'm probably a very atypical student, I don't study hours upon hours and my life hasn't changed that much. I just enjoy the time I spend studying, usually during the week, between classes, and try to absorb most of it during that time so I can go out on weekends :) I have something to say about each class, but it's probably better to discuss those things once you're in, if you'd like to chat :) Clinicals are probably what I was most nervous about. I was a wreck every night before clinicals last quarter, mostly because of the hospital I was in and because I felt like I knew NOTHING (probably because I didn't! Unlike others, I wasn't even a CNA, so even touching the patient made my heart race, lol). They really throw you in there, it's like learning to swim by having someone push you into a deep pool. But this quarter I'm at Children's and I have enjoyed every second of it. Let me know if I can help you in any way, I've been a stranger around allnurses for a while, hopefully I can stick around for a little longer this time!
  6. Hello friends! Just reading through your post and wanted to wish you all luck!! I'm pleased to see that a couple of you (Just keep swimming, hopefulBE) found my advice useful :) :) I'm very methodical and while I know some people who approached the essay differently and did great, I felt so much better when I actually had a method! I'll be crossing my fingers for you all. Being in UW this year I'm SURE that you are all more than qualified to be in this program, it's a shame more people can't be accepted. If it doesn't happen for you, don't despair.. there's something out there for you and you WILL BE A NURSE no matter what!
  7. We haven't been enrolled in the NCLIN classes yet
  8. About $4,200, See here Tuition and Fees Records | Office of Planning & Budgeting
  9. Looked for you but didn't find you on facebook. You can send me a private message on here with your e-mail and I'll try to find you :)
  10. They check the background checks themselves. Don't worry too much about compliance, everyone in the SON is very nice, and as long as you turn everything in you don't even have to worry about it. If there's anything missing they'll let you know about it so you can send it.
  11. I was in UW for a couple of years, left, took prerequisites in Edmonds CC mostly because it's five minutes from my house. Took one class in NSCC. Now I'm back in UW (nursing). My thoughts: taking the prerequisites in a cc was definitely the best for me. I found that both the teachers and classmates were supportive and I liked the smaller class sizes. After taking classes in uw that consisted of 300-400 18- to 22-year-olds it was nice to come to a class of 30-40 people who looked different, had different backgrounds and experiences, and were overall more interesting. Anyway, I digress... I LOVED Edmonds. I paid for classes myself (no financial aid) and they had an easy payment plan and were super understanding if I ever had to pay a couple of days late for any reason (if I called in advance). My teachers were good enough that I don't remember any in a bad way except for one, but she's insanely difficult in edcc and in other colleges. I enjoyed the one class I had in NSCC, but couldn't get over the feeling I was going to class in a dungeon. I got out of class at like 9:30pm during the winter and it was pretty scary. I've heard shoreline is not very good for your sanity... unless you're a masochist. I HEAR that the classes are super competitive and that a lot of the teachers are mean. But I can't speak from personal experience. I've heard neutral things about Everett cc. What I like about them is that they offer tons of classes at different times (evening, online, etc) while Edmonds does not. Usually, edcc only offers one class time per quarter. I agree with the person above who said it really comes down to the instructors more than the school. I have noticed some instructors teach the same class at different cc's. I suggest you use the rate my professor website. Excuse my rambling, I'm super tired and typing on my phone. Good luck on your journey! :)
  12. Wow Abalone, I didn't realize you were part of the panel, too! I have no idea which one was you, but you were all helpful so thanks
  13. Thanks for posting the books! I'm going to wait a bit to get them though because I know that last year the summer and fall starts used different health assessment books. Jloya, I saw you at the orientation and it was great to put a face to your name! I really wanted to chat with you at lunch but I think you left I'm looking forward to meeting you and everyone else at the picnic!
  14. Saena, the orientation was on Wednesday AND tomorrow hopefully they can do your vision test tomorrow because that's the only major thing we did yesterday. Good luck!
  15. Btw I just remembered that not everyone is listed in the school directory. Unless things have changed since I left uw, I was able to opt out of it
  16. That sounds like a good idea. I'm not an admin but maybe she wants to check that :) A question for all (new and old) nursing students. Did you all buy Landeu brand scrubs? I really like Grey's Anatomy and Koi scrubs and I'm wondering if I should go with those or Landeu (their scrubs seemed really large when I saw them briefly at the store) . I don't want to stick out tooo much!
  17. How can we be sure of that? :-o
  18. Hey everyone, I tried to make a Facebook group but I have to add someone to it (other than myself) before I can create it. Anyone want to add me on Facebook so we can make it happen? If anyone is interested please send me a private message on here :) edit: oops just saw Euureka's post up there, I'll be hitting you up!
  19. I haven't seen one yet :-o
  20. Ohh you're right! I wonder how it works! Either way it looks like we'll be meeting soon!! :)
  21. I'm in section BB, what about you?
  22. Congratulations hudabelle!
