Fraternization (non-nursing question)
I wouldn't do it. An officer and enlisted can not have a relationship regardless of chain of command or wing. Your career is nit worth it.

Thanks. I'm feeling so many emotions. Nervous, excited, happy, proud, and scared. But most of all excited. The application process took 13 months. I can't believe it's finally here.

I don't have my orders yet either. I'm all moved into storage now. I didn't want to wait until the last minute. It was an expensive plan but I am a single mom and couldn't do it all by myself in a short time. I have most of my uniforms ready to go. Wow, getting ready in 5 minutes? I really need to practice that. I'm so excited. Friday was my last day at my job of 9 years.

Welcome. I would suggest skimming through this military blog. There is already a wealth of information addressing your questions. I would also contact a recruiter. They do have quite a bit of information regarding many of your basic questions as well. I'm 41, single mom with 14 years in nursing. I have my MSN and am entering as a Captain. I hope this little bit helps. Military.com also offers quite a bit of info.

I had a few issues several years ago but nothing chronic. They requested documentation from my primary MD stating that I've had no issues since. I had childhood asthma that resolved before I even reached high school I was never on routine meds. I had to locate my childhood records. Mind you, I'm 41 now so this was a challenge especially since my pediatrician is retired. I pulled it off. Whew. This is part of the reason for my 12 month application process. Hang in there and know you're in for a long process. Dtay on top of everything and provide what they request asap. This way you aren't holding anything up.

I'm trying to be ready. Lots to do but the time helps tremendously. I haven't seen any of the duffle bags in person. I just appreciate lightweight anything. I'll be at Patrick and am very excited to leave the cold Ohio winters !!

The yelling worries me as well. Its all new to me. I'm trying to get mentally prepared. I purchased several military books to help ease me in. I love your thought about the DIs as patients. There's nothing like being in that vulnerable position to change your perspective. I'm buying all the same as you. Did you purchase the light weight duffle ? Wish it had wheels :).

I know. I have to rent my condo and I'm not looking forward to thoses expenses. I just finished my MSN/MHA and have that debt. Unfortunately the AF only pays for loans towards a BSN since that's all my position requires. I am just excited to open a new book in my life. I'm trying figure out how to pack all the items I'm bringing to COT and carry it all.

The facebook page is my first experience creating a page. I'm figuring out as we go, please be patient with me. I haven't figured out how to set notifications that I have requests. Sorry I'll check more often. I received a request for further information about my student loans but was told I will receive them after turning in paperwork from my PDS. So I should receive it 30-60 days after COT. I'm so excited. This will ease such a burden for me.

I started a facebook page "Air Force COT 11-01". I'm excited to hear and learn. This way we can connect with nonnurses as well :)) my computers won't let me respond to posts on this all nurses blog so all my responses are through my phone. Very tedious typing. :).

I'm glad to see you are a "mature" nurse. I'm a 41 yo single mom with a 7 yo boy. A new chapter in life. I need to work on my PT. I'm within weight but need to better my numbers. I'm reading the AF Officer's Guide. Very helpful for a newbie like me. I recently read We Band Of Angels. Heart wrenching yet powerful story about the nurses in WWII as POWs. Some of our uniforms can be purchased online at militaryclothing.com without any paperwork. I just purchased ABUs and boots. Thanks for sharing. I agree that Carolina pooh is extremely helpful.

Welcome. I'm eager to learn anything. I have no military background so I need all the advice I can get. My recruiter said the low quarters need to be black low/no heel loafers that can be worn with the dress blues.

I'm going in October. I started a new thread in hopes of meeting a few colleagues ahead of time.

Hello I'd like to start a thread for those who will be attending the 10/18-11/19/10 COT. Perhaps we could get to know each other before going. Sharing advice and thoughts ahead of time would be great.

Oh. Are you still purchasing the mess dress? It's no longer required, according to the COT website.

What do we wear them with? I missed this item on the list. Boots, pumps, and running shoes I know about.

It has now been four weeks since my complete application has been under review by the nursing boards. It seems almost unbelievable that no one can tellme anything. My recruiter states that she keep slooking in the database and there's nothing yet. My whole life and career, MSN/MHA, is awaiting a line in a database. Whew..

So many rules to learn. What about PJs? Or do you just sleep in shorts and a t-shirt? Have a great day tommorrow. What's CWT1?

Progressive PUP education
This makes me chuckle but you have great ideas. NDNQI has free training modules for nurses. Assessing upon arrival with uniform assessment and interventions are helpful. I really like the scratch and sniff :)
