  1. I used to take Paxil and had no problem stopping. Everyone is diff though. Did your doctor tell you how to wean off or did you do it on your own? That can be an issue too. You should know that stopping a mind altering drug should be planned with your doctor.
  2. You sound like an amazing nurse. I'm just starting Nursing school this fall and I hope to have the composure in a crisis that you seem to!
  3. So sorry! I had shingles last year and they were so painful!!!! Mine took about 2 weeks to really start clearing up and I was still sore for about a month
  4. I'm just beginning school for my RN but eventually I would like to be a Cert. Nurse Midwife. I have 2 kids. My first was delivered by a doctor (great Gyno, not a great delivery doc). She barely made it in the room in time to 'catch' and cut me with NO pain meds (I was au natural) bc she assumed that I had an epidural like everyone else. (Possibly the worst experience of my life, until I held my baby) My 2nd was with a Nurse Midwife. I saw 2 Midwives and a few docs for my prenatal visits and was lucky enough to have the Midwife on call when I delivered. She LISITENED to me when I said I delivered fast, she STAYED CLOSE, TALKED to the other nurses with respect, and they RESPONDED to her. She was amazing!!! The two deliveries were night and day and I was really inspired by her! I have always been fascinated by pregnancy and I hope to one day help other women!
  5. I'm in Rome. Anyone know of a store (here or w/in an hour drive) that sells stethescopes? I want a good selection to choose from. Thanks!
  6. I just got the reply about the TEAS test. They are using the results as a guide for what we may need to focus on personally to be successful in the program. Fall of 2011 they will be using the test as part of the admission process though.
  7. Thanks everyone! Especially Kim! I do work 2 pt time jobs now but with 2 kids plus 2 step kids it would make life easier to get a loan to help!
  8. I sent an email yesterday asking what the test results from the TEAS will be used for so I'll post when I get a reply.
  9. I just got in to begin classes this fall! Yeah! I've filled out my FAFSA but I know that I will need aid beyond tuition to help with living expenses. So, anyone mind telling me how they are actually affording to go to school? Loans, work, what? Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
  10. This was my 3rd time applying. And actually I have 2 B's and a C in my top 3 Bio's (A&P 1/2 and Micro). My GPA was ok, not amazing but my SAT was pretty high which helped I'm sure. So keep applying! And yes, its obviously possible to get in w/ 3 B's (and a C). As far as my overall score I honestly don't remember. But keep applying!
  11. I'M IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait for fall!!!!!!!!!
  12. I am not a nurse yet, I am a student but I am a mom of a type 1 child. 555 seems excessively high! The rational of giving it after food does make sense bc it is true that if they eat nothing, or less than planned, they can get too much insulin. We have the same problems with my child. I was wondering thought, if up to 555 is normal for her could that be the cause of or worsening her depression??? My son is NOT himself and hardly coherent if he starts getting high. I can't imagine that she can function with BS at that level!
  13. I don't think anything in Score has changed yet. Mine has said ASC-Nursing for over a month. HOPEFULLY we are in, but, I don't think Score is updated.
  14. I know how you feel! I just finished 2 yrs of pre-nursing with Bio, Micro, Chem, etc with 4 kids! Its hard but manageable! :) My best study tip is to copy, copy, copy! Not cheat :) --copy diagrams and surround yourself with them ! For example, before my muscular system practical I copied pics of the arm, leg, etc. and posted them one at a time EVERYWHERE- on my fridge, bathroom mirror, car, etc. The first few days up it was a labeled copy to study then I hung up a copy that was just the pic so I could identify everything by memory. This took planning bc I did each part one by one so begin as soon as the material is introduced. Also, I found notecards held together by a metal ring. I used these for vocab. They were always neat and in order and I could take them with me EVERYWHERE. Lastly, use your cell phone's camera! In lab, I took pics of whatever we were studying, then later I could pull up the pic on my phone regardless of where I was and what else I had with me and mentally review. Good Luck, hope this helps!
