What do you think we're using when we are trying to keep an airway patent, v/s stable and at the same time discharging someone else? Or how about when we have someone code, and the families are still with other patients and you have to do crowd control and make sure your doctor is responding for a different patient that might be having a problem? What do you think we're doing? twiddling our fingers?

Believe me, you haven't had just about every clinical experience. I've been a nurse for 36 years and I sill have new experiences. I've worked in Med-Surg, Critical Care, Hospice, Town Nurse, Trauma, Open Hearts and for the last 8 yrs or so, in PACU. You'll never get bored unless you let yourself become complacent. There is always something else you can try. Don't think you have to stay with one specialty, just because you start with one. You'll know what's right for you when you are doing it. Your life changes also, so what you are doing can change with what your needs are. Believe me, and I still love nursing. One of the greatest things about nursing is that you can adapt it to your life. Enjoy the journey!

Boston hospitals are only hiring BSNs and mostly no new grads. You would be better of trying a community hospital. I don't know where you livve or I'd make a suggestion. This area is not "short" of nurses. I've been a nurse for thirty five years, and can see that hospitals are creating the shortage in house by not hiring, espescially in Boston. I've worked in other states and getting a job is much easier. Have you tried New Hampshire or RI ? Once you get experience somewhere you will feel much better.
