  1. Thanks I'm nervous and excited to be challenged in a new way and I know this will definitely help with nursing school and becoming an RN. I am going to out of my comfort zone
  2. I work in a 12 bed hospice unit current and am going to be working in the neuro/stroke med surg floor of the hospital. What will be different and what is expected of the cna
  3. Ugh. I am struggling in a&p1 how do you recommend studying. It's alot with a quiz in lab 10 pts and so much memorizing just for those 10 pts and then 3 chapters in lecture. I'm not sure how to balance it all amd make it stick!
  4. Hi so I'm wanting to get flashcards for A&P any opinions on which is better Kaplan VS Netters? Thanks in advance :^)
  5. Hi everyone! Getting ready to take A&P 1 this fall any suggestions, tips, tricks etc for me? I'm excited to be in something geared more towards Nursing but nervous too. Haha Thanks in advance!
  6. Any tips and tricks I should know?
  7. At my school you can go either way micro or A&P 1 & 2 I think I'll do A&P.. I'm nervous!
  8. Just wondering if A&P or micro would be the science class to take next? Thanks in advance :)
  9. Thank you! I will do that. You gave great advice and encouragement!
  10. I am a cna working in a hospice the nurses know Im going to school to be an RN they kind of discourage me at times saying I love your enthusiasm it gets old after a while and you will be a great nurse but why don't you do something else like information technology so you can be done faster. I'm working full time 3 12s and have 2 kids and taking 1 science pre req at a time others I work with are doing accelerated programs so they think I should too. It's discouraging when you have people tell you to something you know is your passion
  11. Does a W just look like a withdraw and not affect your gpa?
  12. Thanks everyone! Is anyone from Vegas going to CSN? I wanted opinions on a professor for Bio 189.. If you have any PM me. Thanks
  13. So I am already a CNA and have been for almost 1 year I love it and can't wait to be a nurse. I know nursing is my passion but I am so scared of the classes I'm worried I won't pass. I do know I need to study more and work hard but it's so much to look at from the whole perspective I have 4 sciences and math to take and the teas test before I can apply. I'm on the right path just scared of failure
  14. So I can't withdraw from my bio class that I'm not doing well in. Now that I know that my professor said I might be able to get a C if I do good on the next test and the final but I'm not sure I want that when I know I didn't give it my all. I'd rather get a C knowing I did my best instead of getting a C at the very end. I don't know if I want to keep going for the next few weeks or just drop now and read the book over summer and bust butt fall semester..
  15. At my community college I'm taking my pre reqs and am not doing well in science.. I was wondering if its better to take the bad grade (below C) or withdraw from the class? We have 3 chances to take it and they take the best grade and prior to this I had As and Bs in my other pre reqs I don't want to ruin my GPA! I was invited to Honors Society before this class too ;( I know Nursing is my passion and plan on working much harder next time I take this class! Do you think I should take the same professor or a different one and does it help a bunch to take the same teacher for lab and lecture? Thanks
  16. I don't know if I should take the same teacher or a different one and take the same teacher for lab and lecture. I thought my teacher was good but I don't know if I will do better with someone new
  17. I'm taking pre reqs at community college I did so good on them till I got to the science part! I'm taking bio 189 which is general bio and let me just say I have been out of a school for a long time and I'm not doing too hot! I am so discouraged! I know my heart is nursing but its so frustrating the class is so hard its just so much info and this class is meant to weed out people who can't handle it or aren't meant for nursing. I'm planning on taking it again but we are only allowed 3 times and I didn't know what happens after that. I don't know how they can tell you can't be a nurse I guess it's more stress knowing you have only 3 chances. I do feel like it will be better the 2nd time. I know this is nothing compared to nursing school but it sure makes me feel stupid.
  18. You would have to see which test is required at your school and which Science classes are needed as pre reqs at my community college it is 189 223 224 and 251. The teas is required at my school and I'm waiting till I'm done with my sciences to take it
  19. I am so so bummed I didn't pass the personality test! I feel so dumb! Now I have to wait to apply at any of 5 big Hospitals here and I didn't even get an interview! I don't get it. I think it's wrong they check that first before anything and if you fail your out
  20. I have to go for the personality test and then hopefully an interview! I'm excited and nervous I have always wanted to be in the hospital
  21. I have been Certified since August and worked as a NAT-CNA since may at a long term care facility I have to go for a personality test at a hospital for a CNA position on med surg floor that's part time.. Even though I will make more money at the hospital I get 30 hrs (4days) at the nursing home so in the end it will even out or maybe a little more in the hospital pay wise but ill get my foot in the door. Do you think it's a good move?
  22. Thanks guys :) I did check rate my prof and he has good ratings. I think I'm just afraid of the unknown and afraid to fail. It's exciting its finally about nursing though
  23. General bio- Survey of contemporary biology topics including biochemistry, cell structure and function, cellular metabolism, physiology, and genetics. For Health Science majors who require biology as part of their professional career preparation.
  24. Hi guys! I'm finally starting the sciences portion of my pre reqs for nursing at my local community college (CSN) needless to say I am scared out of my mind. It's been a long time since I have had a science class and people I have talked to say its tough and it has a high drop and or fail rate! I am a CNA and I nursing is my definite passion but I'm afraid to fail I want this so bad! What is your advice? Thanks in advance
  25. Hi I would say do what fits best in your lifestyle. I keep going back and forth with RN or LPN. I have 5 pre reqs left before I can apply to RN so it makes since for me to just keep pushing through. I did get my CNA and am working as a CNA and that was the best thing I could have done although I do not plan or working in the program it's a great experience and will help you realize if nursing is really your passion :) either way you will be a nurse and if you do LPN first you can get your experience and bridge to RN good luck!
