  1. Thank you for your responses. According to the Secretary in Truman's Nursing dept, these classes are not required. I find it strange that pharm is not required.
  2. Hi, Truman College recommended Pharmacology for Nurses and/or Medical Terminology class for new nursing students. Which class is more useful to take? Which will be utilized when working as a nurse? Please let me know. Thanks
  3. our4sonsandourgirl, my gpa is 3.07 with a compass score of 97. most prereps completed prior to application submission, except a&p2 and micro (completing this semester). received a's in bio121, chem100/121, math, a&p1 and probably a&p2, micro and a c in english. i am working as a cna at a hospital and i have a bachelor degree in another field. all city colleges have the same basic application requirements. malcolm x: besides application package, an interview with nursing instructors is required. over 400 students showed up that day. some waited over 6 hrs for an interview. basically, they want to see students dressed up and put a face with the application. waited over 4 hrs met with an instructor for 3 minutes for 1 question: why do you want to attend malcolm x nursing program? daley: application package and 2 letters of recommendation from instructors. truman: application package and attend nursing information session (not required but 5 extra points awarded toward ranking) did not apply to olive harvey, kennedy king, or wright college. kk and wright requires lpn license in order to apply for rn program. does that help?
  4. apply to as many schools as possible. complete all prerequisites and co-requisites (a&p1, a&p2, & microbiology) and cna class (not required but enhance application + job opportunity). it is very competitive. luckily, i got accepted to all three schools. i picked truman as i learned and heard they have the best nursing program out of all city colleges. the instructors are very good. topics are taught and tested separately, where other colleges might group everything together. they pioneered the first nursing program in the city. i have taken prerequisites at truman, daley colleges, and harold washington colleges. interesting information about the dates on acceptance letters. malcolm x college received acceptance in mailbox: 04/09/10 postmark date on envelope: 04/07/10 date on acceptance letter: 03/30/10 deadline to return acceptance letter: 04/22/10 number of day to respond: 13 days truman college received acceptance in mailbox: 04/15/10 postmark date on envelope: 04/13/10 date on acceptance letter: 04/09/10 deadline to return acceptance letter: 05/01/10 number of day to respond: 15 days daley college received acceptance in mailbox: 05/05/10 postmark date on envelope: 05/04/10 date on acceptance letter: 04/23/10 deadline to return acceptance letter: 05/14/10 number of day to respond: 9 days daley is the slowest out of the three schools and expect students to return it within 9 days! they originally said letters will be mailed by end of april. hopefully, this information is useful for future applicants.
