  1. I am a Sexual Assault Nurse. I am terribly sorry for what happened to you but see it all the time. My gut instinct says that someone drugged you. Even if that is not the case, if you had passed out and someone took advantage of you it is NOT consensual sex. You were not in the right mind to consent. Think back to nursing school.....you wouldnt medicate someone for pain and then have them sign a consent for surgery....same concept. I am glad that you are getting the emotional support you need and hope that if they find the guy you are strong enough to prosecute. Guys like this will do the same to other women. Stop him if at all possible. Keep strong and I am praying for you.
  2. I am the clinical director of the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners in Mercer County WV. We currently have 6 trained nurses that perform all of the sexual assault exams in the county except for pediatrics. The chronic pediatric exams are performed by or Medical Director with our assistance. Our program covers the county and we are on call 24/7. Our program has been very successful in our county and we serve the surrounding counties as well. I feel that if a trained person comes in outside of the working ER staff, you have the time to give to the patient, dont have to be rushed and do a much more thorough job. Plus having the court experience we can represent the evidence collected. I am so happy to hear that we have so many SANE nurses out there doing a great service to the public.
  3. I'm not sure, have been out of state for the past 7 years.....but I think they are pretty good....need to get on line and check some classifieds in the newspapers in places that may interest you...I worked in Orlando, and there were lots of us practitioners....good luck.... :)

  7. I worked in a practice with transgendered patients and help transform male to female and female to male.....These people have to live a lifestyle of the gender they are adapting. This has to be done successfully before surgery is even considered. This is all part of the transgendering process. If the person is transforming male to female and is wearing female clothing and such, they should be addressed as a female. They are not doing this for fun as stated before like a transvestite....transvestites like to dress in oppisites clothing and such but do not want to become the oppisite sex. This is this persons life. Keep and open mind. Will probably be one of the best students that you have.....

  11. When I practiced in Florida you had to have a collaborating MD but that only means that they have to be available for consultation by phone, fax, cell or computer....the only problem you are going to have beyond that is hospital admissions, and writing narcotic Rx's....I dont know if the bill has passed yet to allow for the writing of Class IV and III.... It can be done but check with the state board for all the regs... Good luck... :)

  13. :) I am living in Bluefield and don't know much about the Beckly campus but can tell you that Bluefield State is well known for there nursing program...they have a high success rate of grads that pass the RN Boards. I have had the pleasure of meeting and precepting some of the Nurses from the Bluefield campus and they are all great clinicians. I think that BSC would be a decision that you would not be upset with.... Hope that helps
