  1. I just got my class schedule in the mail...did you? Foundations for Nursing Practice on Tues night 5-7 and Pharmacology for Nurses Wed night 5-9...Hopefully thats it for now.
  2. It is my understanding that Tues & Wed are the only nights in class for us. I don't rememeber them telling us anything else. I think the labs etc that the day students are talking about start in January for us. If you want to be 100 percent certain, I would put in a call to them. Let me know if you find out anything different please!
  3. I am evening nursing in Sept and Tuesday and Wed nights is what I understood too. I will be taking Lifespan psych on mondays too.
  4. Thanks for the tips for the next exam...next time I won't chug a cup of coffee beforehand! I am taking the nutrition class now it is currently a 2 credit but will be changing to 3 credits at some point. At orientation they said to that the two new classes (nutrition and Life span psych) must be completed by the end of our first year. I am trying to get everything done...I also just looked into the Math for Meds course that was put on the board at the HESI exam. it is a non-credit, 2-night class they offer for four different weeks. I think it is only $75. I am taking it since I think it can only help!
  5. Hi Hopetobeanursesomeday! I was at the orientation and the HESI exam yesterday too. Two things they said freaked me out.... studying between 4-6 hours per day and that clinical can be nights, weekends or DAYS....I understand they take what they can get but how is that supposed to work for people with jobs? I thought the HESI was tough and I took almost the whole time...I finally got to a point of guessing the answers on some sections just to save time. It was a good introduction to what the NCLEX could be like (and the longest test I have ever taken!)
  6. Congratulations Irish Mommy! Thanks for filling us in on the program. I hope you have had a good experience. How are the job prospects looking for newbies? I wish you luck and would love to hear about where you end up...if it was someplace you had clinical etc. Congratulations to maskinm and mastudent too. I feel a little caught up now that I have read through your notes and hope to meet you at orientation soon. I just have to make it through finals this week! I was glad to hear about the major changes in the program. Not thrilled about the new HESI exam or about adding Nutrition and Life Span Psych to the list but understand that it helps make us more competative with other schools. I was considering continuing on to Framingham State for my bachelors (if I make it through) but would love to go to Regis...it could be cost prohibitive for me though. Anyway, one step at a time! Have a great day..
  7. There are two people in my class that have been accepted to Regis. I have heard wonderful things about Regis (which I understand you have already been to). One happens to know she is also on the MassBay waitlist because she called but still has received no letter. I have heard that they send out more acceptance letters after the orientation because by then they know who has not accepted admittance to the program (or maybe some drop out). I also think that maybe they require a higher GPA because there are so many applicants? Not sure but I wish you luck in whatever you decide to do.
  8. Has anyone heard that you now need a nutrition course and another psychology course (Life Sciences) to graduate? It still isn't on the list of Nursing requirements but I heard from a few other students. Hopefully you get letters soon!
  9. Congratulations! I am very happy for you. It sounds like you have been waiting for a while so you deserve it! I am in the evening program but it is nice to chat with someone who will be going through the same thing. Please keep in touch...anyone else get a letter?
  10. Thank you...I was surprised too but happy to be starting earlier than Jan 2012.
  11. I just got my acceptance letter for Mass Bay, September 2011 evening Nursing class. I think they take each student on a case by case basis when choosing. I am taking A&P and microbiology now but I did read that you need to have both completed before consideration. I think they took into account the fact that I have another non-medical degree from MassBay so all those classes helped me. Anyone else out there get in or hope to? Best of luck to the two previous commenters...I will hope for you!
  12. I am a night student. I always heard that it does depend on how many classes you have taken at MBCC. I do have some transfer credits, but I received one of my other degrees (non-medical) at MBCC so that probably helped. My GPA is 3.7 something...Yes, all my pre-reqs are completed. I just found out I need an additional class - 100 level math class to graduate (not to get into program). This is in very small print at the bottom of the nursing class page.
  13. No problem, I just got a call out of the blue...followed by an e-mail confirmation.
  14. Hello Everyone....just wanted to let you know that I got the call last week and even though I am a night student, I was offered a seat in the Sept 2011 class:yeah: It was a happy surprise for sure. They will send me the packet of info in April...I am curious what my options for clinicals are...any advice on anything from anyone? Keep the faith ladies (and gents) Thanks.
  15. Thanks for your response. I would love to take the winter session class but with work & 2 kids (1 baby) it would be impossible...I will be taking the online class this summer...the online classes are great for flexibility. We'll see how it goes. :)
