  1. I'm currently on INH (in my 5th month) and I've pretty much had no side effects. I know the B6 is supposed to alleviate some of the side effects, but the only thing i've noticed is that I do sometimes get a tingling sensation in my extremities... but it is just occasionally and not too severe...
  2. Hello! I'm currently awaiting to start my nursing program in January. Since back before even starting prereqs, I have known I wanted to do correctional nursing! I am trying to find out a little bit more about the shifts. Most of you correctional nurses, do you do 12-hr shifts , 8-hr shifts? Is it usually paid by hourly wage? or salary? if its hourly, are there shift differentials? If its salary, must you work overtime unpaid, etc? Also, is it very hard to get hired at a prison as a new grad? Is there anything I can do whilst in RN school to help move myself in that direction? What area of nursing could I do preceptorship in , in order to be more prepared for a correctional setting? Thanks so much!
  3. Forgive me if someone has already asked this, I browsed through the CRNA posts and didn't see anything. I am in a BSN program right now. I'm hoping to get hired into the icu. The problem i'm having/question i'm asking is: You are are getting icu experience in order to be better prepared for a CRNA program. It seems that it would be hard to get hired in icu, if they know that your time there is limited. Will they hire you, knowing you will quit in a few years to do a CRNA program? I really want the experience, obviously, but when applying for a position do I tell them my goals? I don't want to ruin my chances, but I also don't want to keep it a secret and spring it on them later? any thoughts on how you guys handled this would be great! Thanks!
  4. I took aps online for lecture and I loved it! as long as you are a self sufficient learner then you should be fine!
  5. What type of health insurance? Like is just catastrophic acceptable?
  6. yeah im also curious the exact price of the uniforms??
  7. ugh this happened to me on friday! I had a letter from tcc and my heart was palpatating! i ripped it open and was overwhelmed with excitement to find it was a letter about my financial aid. :/ haha.
  8. congrats! ugh im seriously going to have an aneurysm while waiting. i hope i get mine tomorrow :/
  9. yeah for some reason my PPD skin test came back negative? But when they biopsied my nodes they tested positive.? Weird huh?
  10. no I totally intend to tell them! I wasn't going to keep it a secret or anything :) I just don't know that much about extra-pulmonary tb! so i wasn't sure If i maybe could still transmit it other than through respiratory.....I would never selfishly jeopardize patients health just to continue school. I have an appointment with the pathologist tuesday and they will be starting me on a cocktail to eradicate the bacteria in my body. So it will be on its way...I guess I'm just a little panicky, i've spent uncountable weekend nights studying a&p, etc for the past couple years to get to this moment, I dont want this to cause any more delays.
  11. So I just got accepted to nursing school and ironically the same week ended up in the hospital and in surgery. I've been having pain in my neck/jaw for a while and long story short I just found out have extrapulmonary tuberculosis! sheesh. They removed 3 lymph nodes and one of my salivary glands. talk about a roller coaster of emotion this week. ......my question is, is me having tb going to prevent me from being able to to clinicals, etc? It technically is active tb, but apparently i've had it for years and its not present in my lungs, therefore i'm not able to transmit it....So its not contagious, but it technically is active TB disease....I haven't told the nursing school yet, (I don't start till october) so I just don't know what to do! any thoughts? anyone have any experiences with tb/being a nurse?
  12. ugh ladies im going crazy! I sent in my application January 2nd. I've been waiting over 6 months for this!!!
  13. There isn't a "wait list" per se....but you can't apply till you've completed most of your pre-reqs..i think you have to have completed 2 of the 3 required sciences, (bio 141-142,, and bio 150)
