  1. a family member thinks she may have it and is going through the testing now. She is 29 and just had a baby. She has been smoking for 19 years now and is calling her doc on Monday. She quit again 3 days ago again. I hope this is it for her. Regardless of diagnosis, she has asthma on top of everything. I was hoping to give her some good info on prognosis. I know its not great but any advice would be appreciated. thank you everyone in advance

how is MPI in Malden for the LPN Program

You can still go, they have numerous start times throughout the year now. It was a problem for the students with kids, I don't have children yet which is why it wasn't a problem for me. But again just something else to consider is all. The cost of the program is ridiculous now. I've made this program worth my while by taking in all I can and not letting things bother me. If you can keep this stance than all the luck to you!!!! Good luck in either road you decide to take!

how is MPI in Malden for the LPN Program

herein lies the problem they will tell you one thing and then change it last minute, if you have the flexiblity like I do then no problem. For the majority of the year we had class at night and clinical during the days on thur, fri but we did have one round or 3-11 clinicals on both thur and fri.

how is MPI in Malden for the LPN Program

I am currently in this program I only have 8 more weeks. I am not a huge fan of some of the teachers or the director of the program. This is not to say the program is a complete sham. There are some amazing teachers still there and part of your education. The program is the absolute most expensive in the state and yes they do have FA but still it might not cover everything, and right now its about 23,000 it was 20,000 when I started. The communication and organzation at the school is ridiculous, but if you can get over that, than essentially you can be a nurse in a little over a year. Good Luck in your search!!!

Clincals coming up for my pysch rotation

Thanks everyone!!!! And DaveyDo I've done that with dementia pts just on the advice of my instructor and was able to calm down and befriend many a pt this way. I do try and orient during the conversation, but listening and asking open ended questions has worked the best for me at least when it comes to dementia pts. I've looked up some care plans already and can't wait!!!!
  6. Hi All!!!! I have my psych rotation coming up next week, I was looking for advice for it. Any reading I can do in the meantime, articles and such. All I have is my nursing book. I'm so excited for this clinical I really really want to go into pediatric pysch eventually when I'm an RN. Right now I'm in school for my LPN, so I know I'll have to wait but still super excited for this!!!!

    LPN school questions

On top of all the other stressors I have going on right now I am 2000.00 short for the rest of the year. I have federal loans in place but it will only cover so much of the tuition the remainder was 3000.00 I have managed to pay of a bit of it. I have been in contact with the financial aid office quite a bit, but they don't endorse any other loan programs. I had a talk with the director of the program to explain my situation, and she referred me to the president. I wrote an email to him that he supposedly never recieved. When I spoke with him the other day, he basically shut me down saying they have to take the appropriate actions, and that he would get back to me on it. I had listed numerous ways in which I could make it up to the school, I'm so worried because I may have to drop out and owe 12,000 for a 2000.00 debt. I have no idea as to what else I can do...any advice would be appreciated. We have absolutly no way of making up the money either, I'm working my husband is working, we have no one to borrow from (I have searched for private loans) and we're going to food banks to live. Thank goodness we don't have children

    LPN school questions

I am currently in LPN school, and am doing very well straight A's woohoo!!!! I have a few questions about it, I'm in my second of 3 semesters, almost done yay! But we're just now finding out that we won't have a maternity rotation. Which is quite upsetting, I may not have wanted to do maternity but still was hoping to have a rotation in it. Also are we supposed to be learning phlebotomy because we haven't, or rather had a one-day lab for it, with no practice. I'm the class rep for my class too lol! I'm wondering if I should say anything about this to the school. Either the phlebotomy or the maternity rotation. Oh and I have an upcoming surgery planned for when I'm school too, the day before my clinical, I explained it to my clinical instructor about how I would prefer not to have a patient, and maybe follow the wound team, which we are scheduled for, but it wouldn't be my week for it. I feel like she didn't take to the idea too well. I just feel like I can't wait to have the surgery though. I am officially rambling sorry for all the questions, I'm just looking for advice is all. Thanks in advance!!!!

    heart fluttering

I was wondering what you wonderful nurses would do, I am having irregular heart rate with a flutter and chest pain, as well as shortness of breath. This has happened on and off for about 2 weeks now. Last week I went to my local ER they took an EKG and sent me on my merry way at the time I was having numbness in my hands. I don't have numbness now, but this still hurts pretty bad. I've been throwing up in my sleep lately too. In all honesty am I being a hyperchondriac?! Or should I go to a bigger hospital tonight? I also posted this somewhere else before I saw this, I should also add that I made an appt with PCP but it won't be till the 29th

  13. i'm just in nursing school so i feel wierd posting this, but there is a certain form of psoriasis that can absolutly produce these same symptoms and its extremely deadly its called erythrodermic psoriasis below is a description. erythrodermic erythrodermic [eh-reeth-ro-der-mik] psoriasis is a particularly inflammatory form of psoriasis that affects most of the body surface. it may occur in association with von zumbusch pustular psoriasis. it is characterized by periodic, widespread, fiery redness of the skin and the shedding of scales in sheets, rather than smaller flakes. the reddening and shedding of the skin are often accompanied by severe itching and pain, heart rate increase, and fluctuating body temperature. people experiencing the symptoms of erythrodermic psoriasis flare should go see a doctor immediately. erythrodermic psoriasis causes protein and fluid loss that can lead to severe illness. the condition may also bring on infection, pneumonia and congestive heart failure. people with severe cases of this condition often require hospitalization. known triggers of erythrodermic psoriasis include the abrupt withdrawal of a systemic psoriasis treatment including cortisone; allergic reaction to a drug resulting in the koebner response; severe sunburns; infection; and medications such as lithium, anti-malarial drugs; and strong coal tar products

Salem State College LPN to RN BSN

I was wondering if anyone here knew how much the SSC LPN to RN BSN program costs. The school itself really won't answer any questions until I actually start my pre-req's. I have to do all my pre-req's too, I have no prior credits that they will accept, so I was also wondering how fast do you think a normal person could complete all the pre-req's while working?

    LPN to RN BSN advice

Thanks so much for the reply! I am not pregnant now, but right after LPN school we would like to start trying, as of right now we have an ok support system. Immediatly after LPN school I would like to find a job then just start working on my pre-reqs at Salem State supposedly they have a great LPN to BSN program. Thanks for telling me though that it can be done! I just need words of encouragement right now, I have faith in myself but a little advice from other students with children or not helps alot too!

    BSN vs. MSN in Boston?

I'm currently in LPN school, I will be finished in Dec. I would love to go on to become an RN. I'm wondering for what I want to do, which would be a better option, I would love to teach CNA's or LPN's PT at one point or another and I would love to go into psych nursing or ER in a bigger hospital in boston. Which route do you think I should take? Also right after LPN school we're going to start trying to concieve is all this possible with a new baby? Sorry for so many questions I'm just excited and about everything, I'm finally accomplishing my dream!!!
