  1. Hi Newbetonursing....if you passed the HESI, i'm sure you'll pass the TEAS :-) ....i know the tuition is very discouraging, but WCU is my only option so far...i CANNOT compete with the gpa that most students are making and the waiting list at all colleges are getting longer...i'm 35 years old...and at my age, patience is not on my mind...i can understand if i was still in my 20's - then yah, i can wait...but when you're in your 30's, the years go by quick...lol...... I hope my classes do transfer to WCU...i made sure they were within the 5 years and at least a C grade.... But i do appreciate your advice...i wish the best for you and i hope you do get into the school you want...you'll pass the TEAS with a high score...just be positive...
  2. Hi Newbetonursing - the classes that WCU wanted you to retake, were they more than 5 years old?...that's the only reason i can think of.....the pre-req's have to be within 5 years and at least a C grade..... Western University of Health Science is in Pomona...i did hear they do have a good reputation...if you already have a bachelors degree, you can apply for their Masters-Entry Nursing program...i think it's 3 years...you might want to check out their website...i think they only accept nursing students once a year during the fall for their Masters-Entry program, but i could be wrong...their next enrollment is for Fall of 2011...
  3. Newbetonursing - thanks for replying back...yes, i'm considering WCU....right now, there's just so much competition at the public colleges and universities...i have no patience with the waiting list or compete with the gpa...my only option is WCU...i'm planning to enroll for January 2011...currently, i'm attending San Bernardino Valley College to finish the rest of my pre-req's....i'm trying not to get discouraged by all the negative comments on WCU...but i've talked to some students from the Ontario facility and they like it so far...what facility were you planning to go to - Ontario, L.A., or Orange?
  4. hi newbetonursing...i'm taking the HESI exam on 08/13 at WCU in Ontario...were there any anatomy & physiology questions and terms on the test?...right now, i'm just studying the math and vocabulary section...i haven't even looked at the anatomy & physiology section since the rep stated that we were only going to be tested on math, reading, grammar, and vocab...
  5. you're welcome...hope everything works out for you ok...good luck!!
  6. i've already completed a little over 30 units...at the info session, they did say grants and scholarships were allowed...if i were you, go to the info session...they will explain more in detail...also, even though you'll get a packet, take notes...
  7. hey sarah10...the school in question is WCU...lol....and no, i'm not an LVN....i have most of my pre-req's done except micro, bio-chem., cultural pluralism and pathophysiology.....i'm taking the HESI exam in two weeks...the campus i'm interested in is Ontario...
  8. hi polkadots34...which campus did you visit?...when i went to the info session in june, they did mention that FAFSA and scholarships were allowed......
  9. thanks for the info rygu!!...by the way, which campus were you planning to attend?...if it's Ontario, hopefully we'll meet up...
  10. thanks turbo-lin...i understand what you're saying...well, i hope you get those classes cause i know how difficult it may be......i'll be done with all my pre-req's by end of this year...and your right, it is an emotional ride, especially when you're around my age....i just want to be a nurse before i turn 40......thank you for the info and good luck to you too...
  11. hi rygu...thanks for the quick reply!!...i've completed some of my pre-req's at my junior college...for the fall semester, i'm taking 5 classes including statistics...so i should be done with most EXCEPT microbiology, biochemistry, pathophysiology, and cultural pluralism.....i would take microbiology at my school, but i just don't want to wait any longer...i'm 35 years old and i want to graduate before i turn 40....i'll be taking the HESI exam in August...for your reasons 1 & 2, that's the same thing i'm going for....if i enroll for the January start, i would be done by August of 2013 - approx. 31 months vs. 39 months......how was the HESI exam?...was it easy?...i'm studying the guide that they provided...
  12. hi rygu....have you started the program yet and how do you like it?...i plan to enroll for January 2011....also, how much was your ACTUAL TOTAL cost for the program?
  13. hi turbo-lin...thank you for the info...ok let me get this straight...did the financial aid say you'll be paying back around 500k on your loans???...just that one loan that you were approved for 250k would cover for the whole program...i'm 35 and i'm done with most of my pre-req's...i'm still debating if i should go thru community or west coast....right now, i'm studying for the HESI..i'll be taking it in August...i probably won't be able to see the financial aid till November or December cause it's too early for the January enrollment....now that you informed me about the price, i'm curious to see what they'll tell me...cause if they're going to tell me that i'll be paying over 250k for this bsn program, then forget it...not worth it...by the way, which community college are you going to?...i'm attending San Bernardino Valley right now...
  14. hi honeydew111, I came across to your post and I know its old, but I wanted to know, are you attending West Coast University as of right now?...if so, how do you like it?
