  1. hi everyone! im feeling a bit confused and lost. i worked in an ER both suburbs and inner city level 1 trauma for years, and then moved up to the trauma/burn ICU when i got my RN. i was in my 3rd trimester when i accepted that position, but did not come back after i had my daughter, for numerous reasons. I havent been working as a RN since- ive been a SAHM. my issue is i was considering going to school now, while my kids are young and taking advantage of the time im home, to be more marketable when i get back to the work force. its going to cost about 15-21k. i just paid off my student loans 2 years ago and really dont want to start a new one. doing one class at a time, means they want 1200 every 3 months. OR, i could wait and have my future employer pay for it. regardless, i need to get license by endorsement, since ive moved and thats 150. is it work it? i need to transfer my RN whether i work or not. to add to my confusion, i dont know what kind of nursing i want to do anymore. im over the politics and the power trips- i want to be able to be home if my kids are sick and not have to worry about points for calling off or missing school plays. my husband travels for work so he is not home alot. id prefer not to go back into a hospital, i dont want to have my kids in daycare for 8 hours. also, to me drs offices aren't worth it. its boring and monotonous. does anyone have any specialty suggestions? or any suggestons at all? thanks for reading!!!
  2. hi, im going to hvsson in october, and i was wondering what you thought of it- i cant seem to find many people who have gone there, and they dont have a facebook following, so....i just want to know what im getting myself into! thanks!!
  3. well, i dont know how accurate this will be, so further insight will be appreciated. I work in an er, so im sure the cases are different, but we usually wont take a bp on a child under 6, and sometimes still wont unless the cc requires it, ie premie, rsv, etc. have u tried taking it manually? i know this is an obviouls one, but make sure the pt is keeping still, relaxed, happy, (hard as that may be for an infant!)maybe have the parent hold them? hope this helps! =)
  4. hey did u make it into shadyside? I was planning on going to ccac, out of convience, but since im here on my husbands orders i dont have too much time. i opted for heritage valley sewickley school of nursing, which happens to be right down the rd from me. I didnt do as well as i thought i would on the test, but still made it wth in the 50th percentile, so now i just have to wait to see if i get called for an interview. to the person who posted this thread- if u havent taken ure exam yet, you are given various times to complete each section of the test. I took mine on the computer, and it automatically brought you to the next section when u either ran out of time or finished the previous part. I had a hard time with the math- not because it was hard, but bc i was given 25 minutes to answer 90 qs! i think its nore of how many qs u answer, not how many u get right. i was able to answer 71. at one point i stopped answering the numerical type questions that required thinking, lol and focused on the "this is to this, as that is to what" qs, bc they were faster, and i thought i could answer more. the spelling was insane bc i hadnt heard of more than half of the words, and i read alot!! lol i didnt even know how they were supposed to sound, so spelling was out of the question! the "psychological" part is easy, u pretty much use common sense and pick what they want to hear. reading was basic, but dont actually read the excerpt, you wont have time to answer all the qs. hope this helps!!
  5. hey long did u have ure test yet? I have mine in a few weeks and was wondering how u felt urse went. Thanks!
