  1. I have also had the same problem trying to secure a job relocating and even in my local area. I have been doing agency work for a year and a half as I have not been able to secure a permanent position and I have over 27 years of experience in a variety of specialties. Have you thought about travel nursing? It may be an option to get your foot in the door in the area you want to relocate to. You just have to be prepared to move on in 3 months if they don't extend your contract. Best of luck!
  2. RUN GIRL RUN! Don't feels guilty about leaving your new position at the rehab place. You can alway explain to the dialysis center that the job was not what you were told it was supposed to be or that you felt you were not a good fit for the company. Never feel like you owe a company anything unless they have been very good to you. They aren't looking out for your best interests and will throw you under the bus if something goes wrong. It does not sound like a very safe place to work. I would accept the dialysis position since you are still in the orientation phase and have only worked a few shifts its best to leave now rather than later. Good luck!
  3. Can not relocate at present, to many obligations here. Yes this área is saturated.
  4. I am an older RN, working for about 30 years. Recently had to quit My job or be FIRED. Out of work for Over a MONTH and can´t find work. Even temp agencies aré requiring more recent experience to work in Any field. I have multitude of experience in númerous Specialties but these days they want you to be specialized with a certifícate in everything. I love Correctional nursing and have tríes to get back into That but told they want one year recent med surg experience. Even tried applying for SNF and they want nurse who has That experience. I see other younger Nurses getting positions with less experience. I have applied at hospitals but never hear back. Applied and interviewed for State positions and was not Offers positions. That whole interview process is different than other interviews, they don`t ask The standard interview questions. Going from ER to Urgent Care pretty much screwed me for Any further work oportunities. Any one have Any suggestions
  5. I worked Queens ER for eight years. Queens os a beautiful hospital but Management sucks, ER personel aré full if themselves from Nurses to Doctors to techs. There aré a few Docs who aré nice but There is One little Fat young Japanese doc who is judgemental and once he decides he doesn´t like you he makes work dificult. Plus he mumbles when he speaks and you can´t understand him and he gets really irritated when you ask him to repeat himself. The attitude There is ¨they aré The ONLY trauma hospital in The Pacific basin¨ so they think they aré The best. Straub hospital is no better, Management There is e ven worse.
  6. The backbiting has and always will exist no matter what type of job you have. If I were you, I would start looking for a new job in nursing but one where the hospital respects their nurses. Perhaps a union hospital would be a better fit for you. I don't really support the union but having worked in hospitals with unions as opposed to those without, the nurses have more options and more freedom to speak out without the fear of retaliation by management.
  7. My best friend and I are applying to Saudi for jobs. We are that desperate!
  8. I have 20 years in varied specialties. Most recent 8 years in ER. I moved from Hawaii to Calif. for what was supposed to be a better opportunity for me to get ahead. I was fired on the last day of my orientation. I was left without the bonus promised to me and it took me 7 months to find temporary work in a prison. I am also doing per diem work in ER and the hours there are also limited. I could not fight the termination. I was fired for leaving the unit for one hour (my lunch hour) event though I had my area covered by an oncoming nurse and the okay from the charge nurse. She evidently went to the manager who told me we would discuss the issue later. Later never came and two weeks later I was fired. This termination prevented me from obtaining a position with the VA. I am trying to move back home but it has been difficult financially. I don't want to stay in corrections as it will limit my ability to get back into hospital nursing. Nursing isn't like it used to be where you could move around and get a job almost anywhere and be trained in different specialties. I am ready to get out of bedside nursing but don't know what else to do. Have considered finishing my masters, but at my age I don't think it would be worth the time, effort and money for the amount of years I have left to work. People and nurses with jobs really don't understand how difficult it is even for seasoned nurses to find employment right now. My best friend is also unemployed and having difficulty finding a job.
