  1. Got my rejection email today. Moving on.
  2. Just curious- did you take the assessment test that was emailed to you?
  3. I applied for ICU and respiratory.
  4. Hi! I applied May 8. No rejection letter/email yet.
  5. It does go in depth but it is SOOOOO random. I took the HESI not long after I finished my sciences, I got an A in anatomy, chemistry, micro, and a B in physio. But some of those questions were crazy. It made me wonder if I took the right classes! LOL I did better than I thought I would, just go with your first impulse in answering. And remember that the whole score is not based solely on your A&P. You also don't need a high score to pass, BUT, they will be implementing their new admission requirements which will place students by their overall scores, gpa's, etc... Good luck!
  6. If they had not already sent out letters of intent in September, I would say the chances were great!!! But, with those already weeded out in September, I'm not so sure. I think it depends on what number alternate you and I are, how far near the beginning of the list. They usually go through more than half of them, but I'm not sure this time around. Also, many still have to take their HESI after all of their waiting, so that could help in our favor too, although that test wasn't too difficult and I think they only need 75% to pass it. I guess we should feel good that if not in Spring, we'll be in for sure in the fall.
  7. I really doubt you'll use the whole 4 hours. Two sounds about right. You either know the answers or don't, (especially A/P) an extra two hours aren't going to help, the test isn't big enough to require four hours. I took my HESI within a year of having my A/P classes, so for those questions it was a little easier to remember. I wish you good fortune on taking your HESI after such a long wait, I don't know how I would do now. My score was a 91.8%, and the class average was 79%, just to give you an idea. That was February of '10. However, I believe the score is cumulative, so don't worry. It's just a weeding out process. With that said, I know they've stated that in the near future it will finally be a point system and not lottery. So you're just barely taking the HESI after a two year wait? They didn't have you take it earlier? I applied in '09 and had to take mine so after.
  8. I also agree, with the new point system, do your best plus some. I wish we had the point system in place already when I had applied. I got all A's, one B. I was looking into moving to Texas where they honor the GPA and HESI exam points, and no wait list. Whoever has the best points, gets in first. What a shame that we don't do that here. Wouldn't you want to know that the nurse working on you in the hospital knows her anatomy and physiology well, and how to spell? Shouldn't we reward those who worked harder to get better grades? I don't understand how someone who got all C's can get in front of the line by lottery. *sigh Oh well. It's good that it's changing for others.
  9. I applied in the fall of '09 and am an alternate for spring 2012. If I don't get in in the Spring, then I'll be in for sure in the fall of "12. So if your number is 800, and there is an average of being moved up 95 spots, you have a looong wait. I recommend doing all of your prereqs first, and while you're waiting to get in the program, do all of your general, even some extra that will apply for a BNS later.
  10. Ok, I got my second letter too. I'm now 404. I agree, so many were weeded out from not taking the HESI, not passing the HESI, and not turning in the letter of intent. We can't expect another drop that like, that's for sure. So, I'm still looking at another couple of years, AT LEAST. On another note, are any of you concerned about getting a job when you finish nursing? The nursing graduates are not finishing with jobs like they were just a couple of years ago. After all of this waiting, I may still not be nursing. California's economy crisis has really hit this area too. That's why it is taking longer to get in, and no jobs when they get out. And since it's not a compact State, it's not easy to go to another state without experience. I'm still looking into Texas. There isn't a waitlist, priority goes to those with better grades, and HESI scores, etc... And the job outlook is much better there. I ran into an instructor from APU and she said there is a waitlist there too, and that they were informed to tell their students to look into going to Texas because of all of the opportunities there. That just about sealed it for me. My two cents!
  11. I'm so encouraged to read this post. Thank you because I have been very discouraged! I'm hoping that it doesn't take three to five years to get in! And don't our sciences expire by five years too? Ugh. I'm looking forward to next month when they are supposed to send out the new letters for our place on the list. I'd like to see how many were dropped. I hope after the letters of intent and the HESI that it weeded a lot of people out. Oh, I'm counting the days until that next letter!
